Hi! I will be going up to NYC all of next week and I plan on seeing at least one show per day. My question is where is the best place to buy all of these tickets in the most economicaly feasible way? For instance, I plan on seeing "Peter and the Starcatcher" at some point and I don't know whether I should try the lottery (I don't think they have student rush), line up early at the TKTS Booth, or just save myself a lot of worry lines and purchase them in advance online with some of the Playbill discounts. What would you all recommend?

Well the lottery is the cheapest way to get tickets but that all depends on how good your luck is. Do rushes and standing room if you can and don't mind waiting. Playbill.com has a list of all the rushes/standing room / lottos

Broadwaybox.com has some good discounts.

TKTS Booth varies daily on availability and price.

So it really all comes down to what's most convenient for you time wise and price wise. Updated On: 6/17/12 at 12:33 PM

Below is the listing of who has lotto v. rush

If you don't get into the city much, I would suggest getting as many ahead of time at a discount. I always think Lotto is really on good for folks that get into the city often and wouldn't be disappointed to not see a show.

For the shows that you NEED to see, how early are you willing to get up for Rush? If the answer is very, then do that.

Thank you both so much! I think I'll end up splitting my ticket buying between advanced tickets and TKTS. I just don't think I have the time (or nerves) to try the lottery/student rush.

Try to decide what you will need to see the most, and buy those in advance. YOu'd hate to leave the city and not see any of your "must sees".

Have a great time.

I agree with BoradwayJoe, lotto is defintely the cheapest way. But you may be let down by it. If you lose that, always try TKTS. They have cheap tickets sometimes. If all else fails, you better hope you bought tickets in advance.

Peter and the Starcatcher has in fact been on the board this week, so trying TKTS would indeed be your best bet. You should download the TKTS app on your phone first (it's free!) so that you can guarantee tickets are available before you get there.

TDF also has a service that you can sign up for that will send you an email alert to tell you what they know will be at the booths at the time they open.
