I have a technical voice question pertaining to Betty Buckley's singing voice. I cannot exactly describe the "phenomenon", so I will include examples from SUNSET BOULEVARD.
It happens here when she sings "No words can tell the stories my eyes tell." Sounds like "myHIGHeyes".
Here - "They drag the Baptist up from the jails." Sounds like "the BaHAPtist"
Here - "This world's waited long enough." Sounds like "The-HISS".
I don't have the technical means or knowledge to describe it. It's like she is a moment early but right on tempo or catches up. It's almost a scoop, but not (I don't think).
This "phenomenon" does not bother me; I actually enjoy it, but I don't know that I've noticed it coming from anyone else. Is it habit or training or chosen technique? I don't know.
Is it a thing? If so, what is it called? Any insight would be appreciated.
