News is just now coming out that Betty Garrett has passed away today. No official link yet.
I'm just heartbroken...
(I made the Bo Peep costume she's wearing at 2:35 which she torn off to reveal a dominatrix out fit at 2:37. Yes, I trashed up Ms. Garrett)

We just watched ON THE TOWN a couple of nights ago, and wondered how she was doing.
So sad, but what a legacy she leaves.
RIP
Very very sad news indeed. She will be greatly missed...

Betty was a force of nature and the embodiment of what LIVING is all about. If the news is true, she would probably want people to celebrate what she was all about for all of her ninety-one years.
An amazing woman!
Loved her. May she rest in peace.
Still no official statement yet, but a close friend says she passed away peacefully this morning in the arm of her son.
I have tickets tonight for a show at her theatre in Burbank. It's going to be a very sad night.
Diva, I'm so sorry to hear this. I adored her. I saw her many times at Theatre West and at other benefits around town. She was such a consummate performer and a lovely, funny woman.
One of the last of the great MGM ladies has passed. I'm watching "On the Town" right now in her honor. She's terrific in it. Then I'll make it a double feature with "My Sister Eileen.
RIP

She stood by her husband, Larry Parks, when he was forced to testify by the House Un-American Activities Committee. He arrived determined to tell them about his own involvement with the Communist Party and refuse to discuss anyone else.
But little by little the committee members wore him down, and he eventually gave in. He was shunned by both sides after that, and he never really recovered from the shame.
Betty stood by him.

Q,
Isn't it?
Too bad it only scratches the surface of this remakable woman.

Sad news indeed. I had the delight of working with her years ago at a benefit and she was gracious and endearing. A true talent. I have fond memories of perhaps one of her final stage appearances at last years S.T.A.G.E. Benefit.
She will be sorely missed.

Sad news. 91 is a good run. Got to see her twice on Broadway.
Rest In Peace.
I always loved watching the All in the Family reruns with her. Great comedic timing.
RIP
She really did do it all. Thanks for the great memories- Rest in Peace.
I recently revisted Neptune's Daughter and plan on revisiting Take Me Out to the Ballgame.
Always enjoyed her work. She will be missed.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I saw her in several plays, and she had a vitality, a joie de vivre, and a talent that was rare.
She will be greatly missed.
I keep misreading this as Brad Garrett has passed.
Either way, this is extremely sad news. May she rest in peace.
It makes me even sadder because I have loved "On the Town" since I was a little Queen and when I had a chance to meet her (back in '89 waiting for a friend who was waiting for George Hearn to come out of the stage door of "Meet Me In St. Louis" which I didn't bother seeing) I didn't tell her how much I loved her work.
Rest In Peace.
