A friend of mine asked Andy about it a while ago, and I believe she said that his character was not in the movie, and that he would be playing opposite Allison Janney. Hopefully Thes will get back soon from the 3pm reading and be able to get us the scoop.
Totally forgot Andy! DOH... excuse me while I edit first post.
Poor poor Andy Karl, gets no love... :)
Thanks for the info fishergirl!

I was at the 11am reading. The show is financed and has a deal to open next summer on Broadway. The show is wonderful. Dolly Parton wrote wonderful music that fits the show perfectly. The book is very funny and differs from the movie in some signifigant ways- that work really well for the stage.
The show needs to be trimmed slightly, but the material is brilliant. Dolly wrote material that isn't country- but has a musical theatre sensibility to it, with her own voice as a writer... it was quite wonderful.
The cast is great! Allison Janney and Stephanie Block are standouts. Everyone in the room seemed to sense that this show has so much going for it.
I also have to mention that Dolly Parton is one of the kindest and more genuine people in the world. She was very gracious to everyone.

That is such good news! Way to go Dolly!
I figure if Roger Miller can write a beloved Broadway show so can Parton.
thanks for the update, lic!

I thought Megan was good, but wasn't at the same level as the other two. She had a great first act song. Bebe was good in a supporting role. Mark Kudisch was also wonderful as Mr. Hart. It's rare to see such a new show look so good.

So...I'm curious. The casting call said they wanted someone with a comic coloratura for Violet (unless they've changed it). I'd have pegged Janney for an alto!
(I also noticed that they wanted a legit soprano for the Judy role. Wow, Steph....)

Who's playing Violet's son, Josh, in the workshop?
Sleeping?
I'm usually better with the whole different time zone thing.
*slaps hand* Bad, west coaster, bad bad girl!
Alright, I'll be patient.
