I love Billy Elliot, it is one of the best musicals of all time, however the music and lyrics are pretty good, Peter Darling's choreography just doesn't fly it soars, the bloke is a ingenious, in the show there are 5 big dance numbers, what is your favorite one?
"Expressing Yourself" - I find this one hilarious.
"Born to Boogie" - Again makes me laugh so much .
"Angry Dance" - technically superb, some jaw dropping moments, love the energy with Maggie Thatcher's voice breaking through. My second favorite.
"Swan Lake" - After seeing this for the 8th time yesterday afternoon at the Imperial, still brings me up in goosebumps, my favorite, especially when Billy Flies.
"Electricity"After one of the best songs in the show, you have another awesome dance number.

Out of those listed I'd say the Angry Dance is quite amazing.
My favourite choreography probably comes in Solidarity though.

It's between Solidarity and Angry Dance. It's funny. I don't know if it was because it was where I was sitting but when I saw the show, I could barely hear Maggie Thatcher over the music. I also couldn't hear the full ensemble. Again, maybe it was where I was sitting or maybe the sound was messed up that day.
But boy oh boy was the show great.
For me, "Grandma's Song" is one of the most brilliantly subtle pieces of choreography I have ever seen on a Broadway stage. I feel it often gets overlooked because it's near the beginning of the show and is so beautifully understated.
"Solidarity" is an incredible mix of choreography, staging and story-telling. Absolutely brilliant.
Angry Dance and Electricity done by Dayton Tavares.
Solidarity on any night.
Actually, for a show about dancing I found "Angry Dance" to be clunky, disjointed and ineffective.
