a friend of mine just got back from London and saw Billy Elliot. She absolutely adored the show... and this is from someone who is not quick to give phrase to any musical.

I'm looking forward to seeing it this fall. Depending on what seats are offered for AmEx Gold Cards, I may go ahead and buy or wait for general public tickets to go on sale. That's what I'm doing now for Equus. As far as discounts go, it's hard for me to say. There may be some discounts later on if it doesn't have a huge advance. But, BILLY ELLIOT is one of the most highly anticipated musicals to open next season.

im not sure the amex pre-sale still starts on tues. the website's been changed -- it just says "this spring" instead of april 23rd.

also previews were pushed back from 9/17 (ish)to 10/1.

as of 30 seconds ago, it said "this spring", with no reference to amex presale (earlier this week, there were actual dates). i surfed around a bit from this page, and found a reference to the 4/23 date under news. BUT, the telecharge site has no specific dates, nor does broadway.yahoo.com (which is, among other things, amex' tie-in site for pre-sale info).

i guess the 23rd is still good, but i hope they update the other sites soon!

I spoke with American Express regarding the presale and they had no info... although they did indicate that there have been many calls relating to Billy Elliot. It should be interesting to see what transpires.

Telecharge now has the info up. The presale begins tomorrow. I assume it will be 9AM.

According to the Yahoo! Broadway website, the presale for Amex begins at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23rd.

The sale is up now for both Amex Gold and other Amex cards. I think it went up even before 9AM.

Looks like the next round of new shows are going to have higher tix prices. The tix (w/ service fees) came to $146 each

Saturday evenings are $136.50 with all other performances $10.00 less. If you have an Amex card you can try both Telecharge AND Broadwayoffers, as they offer different seats but both sites accept any Amex card. Also, don't always take the first set of seats offered, as if you keep searching they offer up the better ones. Right now you can get what I would think are Premium seats, (first three rows center) for regular price.
