Is there usually a cancellation line for week night performances??? I may have five extra tickets from my group for this Thursday, 12/4.
I've never seen the cancellation line (since I get to the show 10 minutes before it starts), but I'm sure you will have no problem at all getting rid of those tickets.
Seeing it for the fourth time this Tuesday evening...and can't wait!!

Thanks, nypj.
Also, how does cancellation actually work? Does the box office pay you for those five extra tickets and then sell them back to people waiting on the cancellation line? Maybe you can call telecharge and ask what their policy is.

In the past... I would give the tickets to the box office on the day of the performance... should the show sell out the box office will sell the tickets and give you the money during intermission. I think each show has their own way of dealing with cancellations. Updated On: 12/1/08 at 10:56 AM

Can't you just go up to the people in line and offer them the tickets?

sometimes they will allow it... but for the most part it is against the law to sell tickets on the venue property. If there is a line of people I don't see why it should be a problem.
I'm just trying to find out if there has been a "line" waiting for tickets at Billy Elliot.

What would the price on them be? Depending on that and one other thing, I might be able to take one off your hands.
There were about 7 or 8 people in the cancellation line when I went last week but that was on a Friday night.

they are actually great seats. I got them at a group rate and they are for Thursday, 12/4/08 center front mezzanine, rows D & E section 2. I am selling them at face value - $114.00 each.

Eek. no wonder groups are cutting back on going to the theater (I know a guy who leads a tour up here every year ~ he used to do 3 Broadway and 1 off-Broadway show and now it's down to one of each. I can see why!)! All of $12.50 off?
My friend actually just got back in touch with me and can meet up that night, so thanks anyway!

I'm hopeful that there will be a line at the theatre that night... they are certainly cheaper then telecharge prices and all those crazy extra charges.
Maybe... But for a girl who goes TO the box office to get the tickets directly, that's not much savings.
Good luck.
Has anyone done cancellation for this recently, or tried it for a Sunday matinee? I'm just trying to judge how my chances would be and what time I would need to line up if I tried cancellation this Sunday.
yes i did the cancellation line for a sunday matinee a couple of weeks ago. i got there around noon, waited until about 1:45, got a ticket, and still had time to grab a quick bite before the show. it's definitely worth the wait - i've done cancellation 6 times and have gotten a ticket every time...
Is the cancellation line cash only or can you charge it?
Thanks
I can't speak for this show but I've gotten cancelled seats before using a charge card.
Yes, they accept credit cards for all tickets, which includes cancellation line (and student rush).
Does the box office then turn around and sell them to the people in the cancellation line at face value, or is there some sort of discount?
I'm sure it's at face value.

I have stood three times in the cancellation line. Each time I got an excellent seat. Those $250 seats are hard to sell. I had a surprise reward on one occasion. I got to sit beside Billy Elliot's mother, 3rd row, front and center. She was standing beside me in the cancellation line as well. One of the most thrilling nights I ever had. At times I wasn't sure whether to watch Billy or watch his mother watching him. I have never seen a mother's adoration for her son at such proximity before. Never to be forgotten.

I'm trying the cancellation line tomorrow, for a 3pm Sunday matinee. Do you recommend I get there when the box office opens at 12?
Once I, as well as at least ten other people, got great seats by getting in line half an hour to ten minutes before the performance, but it was right before the Tony's, so I thought things might be different now. Any advice would be appreciated!
does billy elliot have student rush now? Do they ever have any available? My ID doesn't have a date on it (just how my school does it) are they strict about that? I know some shows don't allow you to use dateless ID cards
Yes, get there at noon.
And no, no student rush currently. Last time I asked, they said it most likely wouldn't be back till the fall. Though when it does return, you will be able to use an ID without a date as long as the picture looks like you.
ok thanks. hopefully it will return sooner in the fall rather than later. I really really want to see it. But can't afford the tickets. I actually don't understand how you all are paying full price to see it three or four times. I'm jealous!
