I am a big fan of Billy Elliot and I've been to the show twice.( Apparently not enough)
I saw Liam the first time and James the second time. Even though they're both great, I would love to see Liam more times before tha cast changes.

I quite like most of the songs on the Peachtree Road album, I find the problem with it is that, with the exception of the Billy songs, a lot of the songs are very similar and the album doesn't "change gear" at all.

Electricity as a single got a little shafted. Although it got an early play on Top of the Pops, even that was cut short before the final chorus and it really didn't get much play time. Put that against James Blunt who was on every Sky music channel every hour and it's going to struggle.

All right, you're forgiven! And, if you usually send in a letter to a performer, they most likely won't get to it for a while. They do have shows to do, you know...

#185Ashley Luke Lloyd
Posted: 8/6/05 at 8:49pm

If you ever go Blackpool, UK, you should arrange to stay at the Aysgarth House hotel on York Street in central Blackpool - with your whole family. It has been run by Richie and Lynn Lloyd for the last twenty years. They've brought up three children in these surroundings - Richard Leonard, 22, Shelby Louise, 8, and Ashley Luke, 14.

Ashley Luke Lloyd was born on the 6th of July, 1991. He has always been a great lover of animals, and when he was younger he wanted to become a dolphin trainer. He loves singing, acting, swimming, cricket, bike riding, and choreography.

Having all the children at home is a rare occasion for the Lloyd family, with Richard training with the Parachute Regiment at Catterick and Ashley being a true stage veteran who is very busy down in London.

Out of all the children involved with Billy Elliot, Ashley is probably the one with the longest resume. You might have seen him or heard him in a number of different ways.

Let us start out with some commercials and advertising he has done. He did an advert for the National Lottery as well as a Kinder Surprise commercial with Steps that was broadcasted in October 2000. He also did some advertising for Pontins (December 2000) and Merseyside Partnership (2001) among others.

Then we'll go on to his film and television credits. He made Hollyoaks for MTV Mersey Television, which is currently broadcasted on Channel 4 in England, as well as a voice-over in Millions (2004), by Danny Boyle with Alun Armstrong, James Nesbitt and Alex Etel.

Let's move on to his theatre credits. In 2000, he did Abbadabbadoo which ran in September and October at the Blackpool Opera House. In 2001, he began touring with Bill Kenwright's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down the Wind playing 'Poor Baby', first shared then fulltime, and he got raving reviews for his part. This he would keep doing until 2004, when he auditioned for the part of Michael. Ashley enjoyed his time with Whistle Down the Wind very much.

In spring 2003, at the age of 11, he did Brokenville by Philip Ridley, at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, directed by Liz Dale.

He's done other things as well. In 2001 he did the T&T Young Popstars Competition where he came in third.

Just how did Ashley end up in all of this? Every Saturday, young Ashley used to attend Scream Theatre School where he is a member of Scream Management Casting Agency. He goes to Bispham High School & Arts College in Blackpool, but when he is performing in London, he is tutored at the Billy Elliot House.

Ashley, who knew how to sing and act, could not tap when the Billy Elliot auditions came up, but his dance teacher, Ian Meeson, kindly taught him how to do it in a very short time.

One reviewer called him an "exciting revelation" with his touching portrayal of Michael; he is "funny and affecting", and together with James Lomas he dances up a storm.

Elton John's new musical Lestat, based on Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, with lyrics by Bernie Taupin, is set to premiere in San Fransisco in December this year, and will move to Broadway in March 2006. Americans might have to wait a little bit longer for Billy Elliot to come overseas, but just for a little while more for the official Billy Elliot cast recording.

I have just discovered this site and am still having trouble working out how to use it so i hope this goes in to the right area. I have just spent about half an hour reading over all the posts in the Billy Elliot topic and have found it a great help with lots of new infomation coming out and great pictures that i have never seen before.

Well any way hello Im lucy and have always been a fan of Billy Elliot the film so when i herd about the musical i had to get tickets striaght away. as i am only 15 i ovbiously had to get my mum to get them for me. I went to see the show on July 28th and had George as Billy. And i must admit when this news first came to my ears i was a tad disipointed as i am compleltly in love with James, and am sad to see him and Ashley go on September 17th but i have tickets to see the show on that day so i will hopefully get to see him on his last show.
After the show i met Geroge and James outside of the stage door and they are such nice boys they were happy to sign our programs nad have a little chat with us, even thoug we were keeping george from seeing his parents.
I will be coming back on here reguarly now and i am going to investigate this place now and try to understand how to use it a bit more. hope this went in to the right place

Hello everyone. This is the first time I’ve ever posted something on a forum before so please forgive me while I get into this!
I really like your comments that you’ve all written about the show and similar to me I take it that you are quite big fans! You all know so much information…
I’ve been lucky enough to see this show three times now and to say I was blown away is an understatement! I have seen Liam perform twice and George once. Both different in their individual ways and both a credit to the show.
I’m hoping to go again sometime this week and have my fingers crossed that I get the opportunity to see James in the role, especially after finding out that he leaves in September…. Unfortunately I won’t be able to catch his last performance, as I will be away on holiday.
I realise that it’s potluck as to who will be playing the role of Billy but is anyone able to find out the rough schedule for this week?
Much appreciated.

Thanks for the tip Matthew. I can understand what your saying about the schedule changing right up to the last minute but I guess I was hoping that by finding out the rough schedule that this will then increase the chances!

I wonder what the young stars feel like and do while they are a 'back up' Billy for that night and then have to sit in the dressing room for 3 hours...

if i were in there shoes i would be glad for the rest. doing 2 or 3 shows a week must be tiring work for 13-15 year olds (i get tired having to be up ready for school in the morning so they must b absolutly shattered) so i would think they are glad of the rest there must be a nice conffy chair or something in there dressing room where they can sit and have a little sleep.

#196Rush Tickets ...

Hi everyone!

I had the great fortune of seeing Billy Elliot the Musical for the first time last Thursday, and I have absolutely fallen in love! It's such a powerful piece! I'm trying to go once more before I head back to the states, and I had a few questions about rush tickets. I'm sure some of you have experience with those, so I thought it would be best to pose my questions here:

1 - What time should I arrive to be *absolutely* sure I get tickets?

2 - How many tickets can each person purchase - 2, right?

Thanks so much! It's fantastic to chat with so many other devoted fans!

It's nice to read that you appreciated th show. That's means a job well done for those involved.

To answer your questions:

1) You can never be absolutely sure to get tickets. However, if you queue by the theatre from 9 or even before that, you have a good chance of getting a ticket. It is easier to get tickets for mid-week shows, but not by a whole lot.

2) You can get as many tickets as you like, but out of the cheaper tickets released at noon, for which people usually queue for hours, you can only buy two per person.

PM me for more details.

As you can see from this magazine article that WEP has posted, it must be a really tiring job for the young "Billy" stars to not only perform in the show on a weekly basis but also land up having to do interviews for the media and photo shots etc and to think they must fit in school work at the same time... what an experience and opportunity they have (even though it is hard going) but I guess some people would dream to be in their shoes!
