If it's the same name and same basic idea, then people are going to be sorely disappointed when they wander in and don't hear their favorite lines or see their favorite characters.

I won't lie. The movie is a pretty good representation of the cheesy high school 90s movies, so I can't imagine their new idea could be any better? I mean, where else is there to go but then to use the same storyline?

All I know is, if there are no songs called "Spirit Fingers" and "This Is a Cheerocracy," I'm walking out of the theater.

Oh, I definitely didn't miss "Bring It On Again." One of my shining moments in college:

Me: *lounging on couch in front of TV*
Roommate: "What are you watching?"
Me: "Bring It On."
*a few hours later*
Roommate: "What are you watching?"
Me: "Bring It On Again."
*a few hours later*
Roommate: "What are you watching?"
Me: "Bring It On...again."
*a few hours later*
Roommate: "What are you watching?"
Me: "Bring It On Again...again."

Yay, lazy! I love chick flick day on TBS.

The money must be great for all these top drawer dudes to spread their legs for Universal. This sounds like total junk, especially since Kitt has just been going on and on about the importance of new, original works when he was pimping N2N. Clearly he thinks Bring It On is worthy of his cred.
However, after hearing the atrocities Lin wrote for the MTV promos, he may need some help and could very well be a one hit wonder.

He's choreography for The Wiz and 9 to 5 were both misguided and slopping, so we'll see.

I'm guessing there are two rival squads - a latina squad and a white squad - and I'm sure you can imagine who will be writing the music for each.

Most competitive cheerleading stunts would likely be deemed too dangerous by Equity. At least the movies can use stuntdoubles to make it look good.

The creative team is too good for this.

I'm in agreement with those who think using the title is not the smartest move they could have made. I know titles aren't copyrightable, but when it's sort of its own brand, you're definitely asking for disappointment imho.

Despite the great creative team, I'm not on the edge of my seat for this. I only saw the first Bring It On, which wasn't that great. It's not exactly something that screaming to be musicalized, but I guess it'll go along with the rest of the recent "Girl Power" musicals like Legally Blonde, Wicked, 9 to 5, etc. Personally, a musical about high school cheerleaders is not at the top of my "to see" list, but then again I'm a few years older than the demographic they're probably aiming for.

I do think that using the same title is a mistake. People are going to show up expecting to see the plot of the movie on stage and they might be unpleasantly surprised when it turns out to be something else.

I also think it will alienate theatre fans who will see the title and go "Oh, another musical based on a movie. Great." Actually, judging by this thread that has already happened. re: Blankenbeuhler, Kitt, Whitty, Miranda, and Green Set for BRING IT ON

It does beg the question of why they're even using the title Bring It On if there's going to be an original plot with new characters. Why not just call it something else?
