Posted: 4/24/08 at 2:29pmI could see the French Mistake becoming some sort of major production number for the Act One finale meant to distract people. "I'm tired" would be a great number for kristen chenoweth, but please, god change that ending!

Posted: 4/24/08 at 3:26pmI really think Mel has had his time on Broadway, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see YF take home a few Tony Awards this season. I don't think that Tony voters are as disamored with Mel and his team as people on this board are. His show isn't as bad as some others, but we continually hear the same bashing from the same people. I went to see it again last week and it was obvious the performers are getting weary, but it reconfirmed my opinion that the show is better than it gets credit for on here.

I'm ALL FOR IT - and I don't care *what* anyone says!
The man's a comedic genius, and his musical adaptations are wonderful (YOUNG FRANK included). I have a soft spot for the guy, and that's all there is to it. Bring on BLAZING SADDLES - Can't wait for more on this!

Posted: 4/24/08 at 4:32pmThe screenplay for YF was a joint effort between Mel & Gene.

I think it gets bashed because of The Producer's success.
it's the same for Cry-Baby compared to HAIRSPRAY.
of course we all know there are differences but when see name associations/similarities, we always have expectations.

Posted: 4/24/08 at 6:49pmI'd rather see Robin Hood: Men In Tights made into a musical. I think it could work really well.

I cannot see this as a musical
Robin Hood yes. While we are at it, release When Things Were Rotten to DVD.

Posted: 4/24/08 at 7:58pmSeriously, why not Robin Hood Men in Tights? That already has songs in it! Not Blazing Saddles, I do not want to sit through the farting campfire scene.

Posted: 4/24/08 at 8:26pmBad idea, but if it were to happen, Mel should consider another producer who's capable of standing up and saying no and editing. Although I think the best idea is to do something completely original and not an adaptation of one of his movies. Did Young Frankenstein have any original jokes not in the movie?

Posted: 4/25/08 at 9:38amTons of new jokes were in Young Frankenstein. Also, take the musical for what it is and enjoy it. So what if there was a farting campfire scene. Make it into a musical number and people will laugh their asses off.

Posted: 4/25/08 at 9:51amI am one of the few fans of YF around here and I think BS could work as a musical but it would take way too much work. If Mel went back and really analyzed what he did right with The Producers and YF (and what he did wrong) he could pull off the best one yet. The third time being the charm and all that...

I had thought in an interview Mel Brooks had said that there is no plan to do a Blazing Saddles Musical he just wanted a great ending line for YF.
I personally love Young Frankenstein and The Producers but I don't know how Blazing Saddles would work if you say the N-word in the show.
I don't know if he should do it but I think it'd be a fun show to go see even if it did flop.
