good for anyone who wants a chuckle, this list is ridiculous.

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

Shawshank Redemption would actually be awesome. I'm serious.

Then again, maybe someone out there has already tried to bring it to the Great White Way, only to have Stephen King shut down the idea. . . . Bad aftertaste still in his mouth, I suppose.

My list:

MOULIN ROUGE
THE TRUMAN SHOW
FANTASIA/FANTASIA 2000
WAITRESS
ANASTASIA
HARRY POTTER
MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY
THE TERMINAL
SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE
and SAVED! (they need a different creative team to re-do it 100%)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
--Aristotle

Well, I hope they're not serious. Back to the Future seems the only one that'd work from that list.

Back to the Future would actually be interesting. Haha, I'd love to see that!

I would like to see Shawshank Redemption, but rather as an opera than as a musical. Having seen what Terrence McNally and Jake Heggie did with Dead Man Walking, I think the emotions in Shawshank would be better served in that format. And let's face it, the opera stage has seen its share of dark, twisted material. Just check out Lulu, which inspired the creators of Carrie that it might potentially work on the stage, though they ended up going wildly off course on that project.

Yeah Shawshank could be an amazing modern opera. Sondheim could do wonders with it. I wouldn't mind seeing what Will Todd and David Simpatico could do with it (the guys who did The Screams of Kitty Genovese at NYMF back in 06).

This list was ridiculous!! I want Douglas Carter Beane to bring "Grease 2" to the stage....

Acting should be bigger than life. Scripts should be bigger than life. It should all be bigger than life.- Bette Davis
