It's a lot of fun. I thought it worked very well in a casual workshop/concert form. Interested to hear how a larger space and more expensive ticket will affect the experience.
I've heard nothing but incredible things about this show. I'm hoping to be able to finally catch it this time around.
Thanks for the feedback.
SInce my seeing Miracle Worker is looking more and more grim, this may be the show I replace it with should it come to that!

I heard from a friend of mine at Center theatre in LA that the show is tremendous. I have 3rd row tickets for early april and I'm taking my son for his first "real" theater experience.

saw the show in Los Angeles and absolutely loved it!!! it had a winning cast and a very fun score! i really want to see it again
I really liked the show but didn't quite love it. The cast was incredibly game, and the music was lots of fun. There were some book issues, or at least there were in the lab version. That said, they've had lots of time to work on the material. And on a smaller note, the set was already fabulous back then. Whether or not they've worked out the kinks, it's still a wonderful time and offers some hearty laughs!
It's not bad. Rather unusual, and definitely not "commercial." Friedman is a very talented composer, and this may get him enough visibility to become attached to a bigger buck project.

"Tremendous", as someone said a couple posts up, may be a bit much...I saw it in LA and it was definitely a fun show. I enjoyed it enough to see it again when I visit NY next month.

I just saw this last night. If I'd say replace miracle worker with andrew jackson! Those are completely different but it was very fun. Also limited engagement.
Bway Local, what were your thoughts on the first preview last night? I am seing it on Friday night and I am super excited.
Anyone else catch the show last night??

JAX ROX!
My recurring thought as I watched last night was "I hope they record a cast album."
It has that amateurish-on-purpose feeling to it, plus all those absurd anachronisms (wireless hand mics, phones, etc.). And of course, it rocks. Think of SPRING AWAKENING with the score redone by Fall Out Boy. Or maybe a parody of 1776 written by the South Park guys.
The humor gets a little rough -- PG-13 to R, I'd say -- and the insults are plentiful and very un-PC. Native Americans might prefer to see Blue Man Group across the street. Same goes for Twinkie lovers. And Federalists.

Glad to heard it's going to be fun, I guess I will have to have a talk with my 11 year old before we go.
Can't Wait for April!
Well....I'm not going to waste my Miracle Worker tix....but I'll just try harder to get back to the city to catch this one!
Anyone know off the top of their heads when this is scheduled to close??
I'm seeing this tonight and am very excited. Does anyone know the current running time?
Fate has taken its course. Miracle Worker will close before I was scheduled to see it.
Goodbye, Helen Keller
Hellooooo.......Bloody, Bloody, Andrew Jackson!!!! :)
If anyone has the same question I had, it's 95 minutes (and no intermission). I thought it was a lot of fun, and I really liked the music.
Argh. I really hate trying to buy tickets through the Publics website.
I just Re-registered with a different email acct. was told I WAS registered. But when I try to sign on and actually BUY tix, it tells me I have the wrong username/password combination. I have an email in FRONT of me telling me I am indeed putting in the RIGHT info, too!
This is what happened with my old regeistration as well. Guess I'll have to wait to call the box office tomorrow! AGAIN.

Is this is the exact same show that played last year or did they revamp it or what?

Fantastic show! I saw it over the weekend and the house was packed. Great music, funny as heck, relevant to our current political situation, silly yet smart at the same time. LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!
It doesn't hurt that Benjamin Walker is really hot also. I think this will be a big hit, especially among younger theater goers. I really recommend it. LIked it more than American Idiot.

Just got back for the 2pm show(sold out btw). My 11 year son and I LOVED it. Ok so it's not the greatest show ever, but it's funny, clever, and has really fun interesting music and staging...so what more do you need?
My only quibble is with Rachel(too lazy to look up her name) she was the only weak link of the show. I loved the rest of the cast and the writer/director is my hero, he made my video game obsessed son like something else for 90 minutes.
Make sure you don't miss it, shows like this usually arent this well put together.

Good, not great. Went on for 20 minutes too long.

I actually liked the second half of the show. I know some others have written that it doesn't work as well, but I thought it was a pretty good way to end it. It stays true to the spirit of the beginning but puts a little more thoughtfulness on top.

Saw it over the weekend and enjoyed it, for the most part. I saw it with a decidedly older audience who weren't really responding which threw things off a bit. Certainly fast and loud and energetic, if it gets the right audience it could do very well indeed.
