I really hope this opens in Early November, I am going to NYC for Thanksgiving and I would love to see it!

I'm reading over that article again, and Mimi Bessette is listed in the ensemble. Does anybody know if the role of Emma was cut down? I couldn't imagine the role being cut completely. I really hope that this show makes it to Broadway! I saw it in La Jolla, and it was AMAZING!

I have heard the Bonnie and Clyde demo. Wildhorn still can't write musicals. It's the same re-hashed 80s/90s pop songs, no matter what propaganda they're spewing. And after BLUNDERLAND, only an idiot would invest.
^^My guess is you are listening to a demo from years ago that reflects absolutely nothing left in the show. Pretty much everything has been changed.
SOOOOOO hoping this happens, would really love to see Osnes shine in this!!! I feel like it could be a game changing kind of role for her.

philly is right, I have heard the demo you are speaking of with Brandi Burkhardt and I promise you that the show is MUCH MUCH better now.
I've heard the demo, and I don't think anyone likes it. It was from 1998, before the show was even in official production.
As for "Too Late to Turn Back Now" - that kinda sucks. I really liked that song.
I feel like it could be a game changing kind of role for her.
I have the exact same feeling and it's part of the reason I'm so excited about the show. If the show is as good as I've heard this could be really big for her professionally.
And remember - the new B&C movie is due out this fall. That could be a huge push for the show and the reason they want to open this fall. If the movie is good it could rekindle interest.

Does anyone know how the reading went? Another thread suggested B&C is opening at the Nederlander in the fall.
Seems like they got the green light.. even Michael Riedel like it:
"THERE is, believe it or not, decent buzz coming out of a new Frank Wildhorn show. Yes. You read that correctly.
Wildhorn has been Broadway's favorite whipping boy for years, racking up an impressive record of flops -- "Jekyll & Hyde," "The Civil War," "Dracula" and, most recently, "Wonderland."
But his music for "Bonnie and Clyde," which had a workshop last week, isn't bad at all. I know because someone slipped me a CD, and I've been enjoying it.
With lyrics by Don Black, who wrote "Thunderball" and "Diamonds Are Forever," the songs are an infectious mix of bluegrass, jazz and country.
It's a relief to report that there's not a syrupy Wildhorn pop ballad in the lot."
NY Post Kristin Chenoweth
"WONDERLAND is Wildhorn's biggest flop to date at $13 MIL (as well as the shortest run)"
YIKES! At least Spiderman is open.
I wonder if that's a new demo Riedel has or the old one? If it's a new one I'm jealous!
New one, Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes recorded a demo of it (for industry purposes).
philly, is it true that they're reviving Jekyll and Hyde?
What a terrible idea. I just saw the show two nights ago at the Pittsburgh CLO. (Elizabeth Stanley played a brilliant Lucy).
Simply awful show. Fun to listen to, but almost laughable to watch.

Is there any way to hear the new demo, philly? I'm very interested to see what this score is like.
Not set in stone, but the aim is for '12-'13 season. Depends on casting and what not if it'll come around. Jeff Calhoun (who is also directing B&C) is the front running director for it.
I think the show can be so exciting and great, but never ever on a regional level. I haven't actually seen the show in about 3 years (one of my favourite musical to boot!), but last time I did was this terrible terrible community production that made me question the whole my liking it. Those engagement party scenes are truly painful, I'll give you that!!!! I'm sure they'll update it (as they do with every production around the world - it's always different!).
I still think Lucy has one of the best roles song-wise of any musical (and is generally the only fun part of the night depending on how good (or bad!) the Lucy is!), .. "Someone Like You," "A New Life," "Bring on the Men," "In His Eyes," and more!

I was able to get my hands on Laura Osnes performing one of the songs, and I kind of like it. Laura sounds amazing on it for sure, though. I might just see the show for her.
Don Black was either on or was guest hosting Elaine Paige's radio show on the BBC and played the song "Dyin' Ain't So Bad," which for those of you who look out for demos is the same tune as "I Don't Know the Way," but with different lyrics.
Asolo did a video preview with interviews thrown in featuring some of the best songs, including Osnes's "How 'Bout a Dance?," the male duet "You Can Do Better Than Him," and the show's "big song" "The World Will Remember Us." There's a lot of good stuff in it, most of them aren't ballads either (I think Laura's got two, and Clyde's got one, very un-Wildhorn)
I really think this is the star-making role of Laura Osnes.

What I heard is the Elaine Paige show clip. As usual for a Wildhorn-related show, though, i like the music better than the lyrics...

so if Michael Reidel likes the music then it MUST be good!
also wildhorn never had a problem writing music that people like. This is the moment was KINDA THE song for about 10 years. .
Its the book's that are usually horrible. Its also a stupid premise....next
