Normally i like shows based on a pure entertainment perspective so Lysistrata should have been perfection for me. I found it to be just terrible. It had a few redeeming qualities about it, but not enough to make me want to see it again. The end was cute, so I couldn't in good conscience recommend that to someone.
I had some issues with bonnie and clyde but overall it was an enjoyable show. i would like to go back, but i dont think of it as a "fun" show which is what i equate pure entertainment perspective to mean.
shows i consider fun, for perspective on my rationality:

I have the same exact dilemma - and everyday I have a different answer
Maybe I should just go and see GODSPELL?

Jeremy Jordan, Laura Osnes, Frank Wildhorn's music and a true story about a couple who go around killing and stealing.... sounds more interesting to me than high school musical.
(I still want to see Lysistrata Jones though.)

I saw both back to back this past Saturday. I started my afternoon at Bonnie and Clyde and ended it with the first preview of Lysistrata Jones.
With regards to Bonnie and Clyde, let me start off by saying that this was the first Wildhorn show I saw. However, it wasn't the first wildhorn score I had heard. I feel that the music from this show is not the typical style of Wildhorn music we all love to gang up on. The score here was more country/blue grass rather then ballad after ballad. In all honestly, there were times where I had to remind myself that it was Frank Wildhorn who wrote the score. That was mainly due to me feeling like the music was too good to be a Wildhorn score and yet I realized that I was wrong. I say that that is a good thing mainly because I feel that he can write music that is not a power ballad.
As far as Lysistrata Jones goes, It was cute and funny at times. Overall, I felt that I had a good time. But, there were times where I just wasn't following the show. I don't mean following the show in terms of not being able to follow what is going on on stage, I mean in terms of energy level. But, I think that that was just because I was tired from seeing a show before. I think that if this show had continued the off Broadway route I would have left feeling a little more okay with this. I felt that it was a style of show that I liked, but at the same time I do feel that Broadway may not be the right avenue for this show. I think that it is a really good cute little show, but this is proof that just because something can transfer from Off Broadway, to Broadway doesn't mean that it should do so.
These are just my 2 cents.

Posted: 11/17/11 at 12:27amI haven't seen Lysistrata but I saw Bonnie and Clyde and can just about guarantee a good time. Perhaps read the first preview thread of each show to get an idea. B&C seems to have almost universal praise whereas Lysistrata seems mixed at best. Just my two cents.

If you can wait to make the decision, I would wait for at least one show to open, maybe the reviews can sway you.
From word of mouth on here alone, I would go with Bonnie and Clyde.
