Looks like the Book of Mormon will open at the Bank of America Theatre in December 2012 for at least a 12 week run with hopes of an extension!

Awesome news! Let's hope that it has the success of Wicked in Chicago than the fate of Billy Elliot.

This tour is starting up pretty late, isn't it?
This will do amazing in Chicago. It's the first show in a long time that people I know that aren't into theater are coming up to me asking if I have heard of the show. (Well duh) I don't think it will have Wicked numbers it will do REAL well here for quite a while.
I know they're hoping for it to turn into a sit-down for months and months, but I'm guessing the appeal won't even remotely approach "Wicked" and its (what, 3-4 year?) run.
Seeing "Wicked" there 2x and passing the crowded theater dozens if not hundreds of times, it was easy to see it survived at least halfway on blue-hairs and tweens. My partner's mom went on a theater bus trip from Iowa to see it. None of that's gonna happen at "BOM."
"Billy Elliot" didn't quite click with those audiences (thought of as "too-adult" for younger kids and "too liberal/socialist" for the "red" counties and areas surrounding Chicago). "Jersey Boys" got the boomers, blue-hairs, etc. but not enough families to last as long as "Wicked."
I predict "BOM" will have six months tops. (which is GREAT but obviously not "Wicked" level)

Was the "Bank of America Theatre" formerly the "LaSalle Bank Theatre" which was formerly the Shubert?
Fine old theatre, the Shubert...
Mormon in Chicago could have a solid one year run. keep it going through Jan. 2013.
already three more companies of Mormon are planned.
- Broadway(opened March 2011)
- National Tour(opening August 2012)
- Chicago(opening December 2012)
- West End(planned opening for Fall 2012)
Are they at least getting Lane and Broderick?
THE Book of Mormon! It's called THE Book of Mormon!
TBoM doesn't look or sound as good, though.
It sounds like a rapper.
T-Bomb.
Or something Michele Bachmann might drop on your house.
Tea Bomb.
Or like two totally made up words.
