Vanessa Williams and Blair Underwood will join Tony winner Cicely Tyson for the L.A. run of A TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL. Williams and Tyson (along with Cuba Gooding, Jr.) were in the NY run of the play. Gooding, Jr. opted out of the Lifetime TV adaptation and was replaced by Underwood.
I know nothing can replace live theater but shouldn't they have waited to film this AFTER the L.A. run? Will people still flock to see this play when they could see these very same performances by just renting the recent television film?
What do you think?

It's just a 7 week run and prices will probably top out at $110 or so for the very best seats so it's not like they would have to drop 5 bills a pair. They also have a pretty healthy subscriber base. I think they'll be fine.
