How are they? I've never sat in them but I've always imagined that you would only be able to see half of the stage. Is this true?

I think some theaters are better than others. I've only sat in them twice. The Shoenfeld is pretty terrible. I sat there for Long Day's Journey into Night and could only see about 1/3 of the stage (thank goodness there was a pair of empty seats in the orchestra that we moved to for Acts II and III!). The Booth wasn't bad at all though. I had rush seats for The Pillowman there twice, and all that was missed was the wall on the house right side (where we were sitting). I guess it's kind of hit or miss.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

I have only sat in Box Seats at Phantom of the Opera and the Sweet Charity revival. I enjoyed both of them and didn't miss anything important.

It's also a different prospective for the shows which I love.

You learn to play the straight man, the lines become routine - never really saying what you mean - but i know the scene will change :)

I did box seats for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and I also really enjoyed them. Sitting in box seats makes me feel like royalty, which is always fun. And you barely miss anything. You see pretty much everything and you are so close. Its fun.
