This will be the first time he has appeared in a musical in Sydney. His previous stage appearances in Beauty and the Beast (93)and Sunset Boulevard (96) were both in Melbourne.
While he is popular here, so was the originator of the role in what was a somewhat different show than what was seen on Broadway. I can see some fierce local discussions looming!
it can only be an improvment on the tripe that was served up in the australian production....amaturish at best....be good to see the show with some star presence....the only redeming thing about the original australian production was the presence of a living theatrical legend in australia...miss jill perryman and the singer actress, chrissy amphlett who played judy garland....still, i got a good couple of hours sleep in!
Hmmm...too true Mother Cabrini. How bad were the sets/costumes?!
*starts to wonder how she can get to Sydney....*
I will meet this man someday..and we will make out...
(ahh if only ALL my dreams came true)
Lucky Sydney! I'd kill to see that show again!

I had the exact same thought. I heard that he was scouting locations in Oz - possibly the Sydney Opera House - to do his "world tour" starting in January. But who knows exactly what that means. I *guess* he could do that for a few months maybe, then a movie, then BFO in Oz for a few months, then another movie, or pick up the world tour again. As far as we know, Hugh starts filming "Good" either right before or right after the Tonys, and then "X-Men 3" starts filming end of July/beginning of August and lasts through December. Haven't heard of any other movie commitments after that yet.

I didn't even mention the promotional appearances he will probably make when "The Fountain" comes out in theaters - no release date yet, but speculation is at the end of the year. Since he's been seen all around Manhattan this month attending various events (Sting concert, Central Park for his son's birthday party, Mandela tribute, Jacobs/Schoenfeld theater re-naming), sounds like this might be his last time off for the rest of the year.
I wonder if he still has a place in NYC (when he lived in NYC for BFO)?

I'm assuming he does, since he's been here for a few weeks, plus when he was filming "The Fountain" in Montreal, he "came home" on weekends - he was reported to be seen on some flights. I think the Jackmans are making NYC their North American base.

There was also some talk of him bringing his Wynn opening performance to NYC (Broadway) for awhile. Sounds too busy for that though!
Anyone know what he did at the Wynn opening in Vegas?

Someone who saw the dress rehearsal posted a report, and you can read it here - you have to scroll through the messages since the report is broken up, it's not only the first message:

There's also a report from another person (who also posted briefly on the above thread) here:

Some of the names that attended were reported in a Vegas newspaper here:

And Cindy Adams mentioned in her column other people who attended, including Steven Spielberg, who Hugh pulled onstage. but the article is no longer available in the NY Post.
