Boy From Oz movie is possible...

I really hope this wasn't posted before (I searched as well as I could) but forgive me if it was...

Does anybody else get Parade Magazine with their Sunday paper? In the Celebrity Q&A section, they had a question about Hugh starring in a possible BFO movie. The answer stated that it was quite possible, but the producers were thinking of having shows in London and Sydney first, as well as a touring show. But if they did make a movie, Hugh would definitely be in it.

I got the PARADE as well, and was going to post the same thing. The reader question is: Any chance that Hugh Jackman will do a film version of THE BOY FROM OZ, his Broadway hit about Peter Allen?

The response was, "More than just a chance. The producers tell us they wouldn't dream of doing an OZ film wihout the multi-talented Jackman, 35.... there are also discussions to bring stage versions to London and Sydney..." The article also mentions taking the show to "other cities" (citing a possible tour?), Hugh's commitment to THE FOUNTAIN film and that is his only conflict in shooting a movie of the show, and the producers making as much money as possible on the show before transforming it to film.

I'm going to see the show on Sept. 5... And if they were to make a movie, I think that the cast is very perfect as it is right now. Although I love Beth Fowler's "Don't Cry Out Loud", I bet they'd recast her part because they'd want a 'maternal' star. I think Beth Fowler, Jarrod Emick, Michael Mulheren and Stephanie J. Block would be in danger of losing the parts they originated. Mitchel David Federen is a MUST... I'd love to see the whole cast of principles stay the same for the possible film, but that's show business.

Am I the only was who was really disappointed by BFO? I didn't think the book was strong at all, the set was dismal, and the audience was ONLY there to see Hugh, not the story of Peter Allen, which, I gotta say, not all that interesting.

Though, a movie version would land Hugh in a movie where he can actually show off his great talents and not be drown out in a lame action movie. Am I alone on anything I think?
