I don't 'get' why Brantley is wasting precious newsprint on his whinefest.
His opinion is valued by many people. I can understand disagreeing with the content, but I think to call it a waste is a little much. And McNulty's editorial seemed a lot whinier to me than Brantley's.

I love how when someone agrees with Ben Brantley, they state his opinion is of value and important. Yet, when they disagree with him, suddenly Brantley is a talentless, clueless hack.

^ Are you referring to me in particular? Because I always like his articles, and find them to be both insightful and well-written, which I respect no matter if I agree with him or not.
No, sorry, I should have made that clear. It's just a general observation.
Oh, for God's sake. The committee followed the rules and went their own way as they have before. They have also awarded from the jury's selection before. Why the hubub this time? Personally, I wish there had been this much backlash when The Young Man From Atlanta won.
Was there hubbub when Rabbit Hole won the Pulitzer? I don't remember. I'm sure Brantley made a stink about it then too.

Agreed. And this happens because people are always looking for outside confirmation to give some sort of validity to what it is they like, whether it be a play, a film, a book, a painting. a television show. the car they drive, etc.
