I don't 'get' why Brantley is wasting precious newsprint on his whinefest.
His opinion is valued by many people. I can understand disagreeing with the content, but I think to call it a waste is a little much. And McNulty's editorial seemed a lot whinier to me than Brantley's.

His opinion is valued by many people.
I love how when someone agrees with Ben Brantley, they state his opinion is of value and important. Yet, when they disagree with him, suddenly Brantley is a talentless, clueless hack.
You can't have it both ways.

Agreed. And this happens because people are always looking for outside confirmation to give some sort of validity to what it is they like, whether it be a play, a film, a book, a painting. a television show. the car they drive, etc.
