They're going to use Jay-Z's version of "Hard Knock Life."
Meehan's revising it...hmm.

Kristin Chenoweth as Lily St. Regis please! I loved her in the ABC version and I hope she will reprise her role. I'd also like the Brian d'Arcy James as Oliver Warbucks.
The show is certainly solid, but let's face it, everyone has done and/or seen a really ****ty production at some point.
Even the last professional iteration was woeful.
But you never know....
I love it! Very good news. Such a great family show. I hope the revival the best; if done right, it should be a huge blockbuster/ tourist attraction.
It would never happen, but Donna Murphy for Ms. Hannigan.
If they're looking for a movie name, wouldn't Catherine O'Hara be DIVINE?!
Saw it in 1978 at the Alvin - and that show, in its original production, was fantastic. Between the two bad movies, the threadbare national tours and who knows how many terrible community theatre productions, the show's reputation has been besmirched. It was once a wonderful show - and should be again if it gets a production anything like the original.

if they insist on going through with this, i pray that they at least consider mary testa for hannigan
Love the idea of Donna Murphy as Hannigan! But my top choice, stealing a brilliant suggestion from Wanna Be a Foster, is Mary Testa who would simply bring the house down and leave no scenery to speak of after chewing every bit of it in the role.
Just no Kathie Lee Gifford please.
Michael Cerveris as Daddy Warbucks? :P

Part of the problem, at least with the revival, is that they keep tinkering with the script. I would if they will restore "Herbert Hoover" and the other songs that have been lost, or if this will be an attempt to bring the songs in line with the movie version.
Jan Maxwell as Hannigan!
Out of all the ideas in this thread, this is far and away the best. Mind you, she'll NEVER be cast because she's not a big enough name, but wow would she be incredible.

I love Annie and excited for a Broadway return but is a New Revival necessary with the just recent hit 30th annivarsary tour that played the country for 5 years which I thought was a fabulous production charnin took it to a new Level. but it will be exciting to someone elses new artistic view of the show with an entirely new stageing. I hope to see new orchestrations along with ne exciting song and dance arrangemts.
Dream Casting!

Charles Busch as Hannegan.
So many great ideas for Mrs Hannigan - Beth Leavel, Jackie Hoffman, Catherine O'Hara ... and I'll add one ... Debrah Monk..... and not a single one could get me to sit through this show again .... unless they bump off Annie in the end. Now that would be a happy ending.
We need to save Catherine O'Hara for DOLLY.
STOP IT CHARLES BUSCH AS HANNIGAN IS GENIUS.
Scrap the old maid look imortalized by Loudon et al. I think Busch could play Miss H with some silent screen star make-up, giving her a secret-wish backstory. A cross between Baby Jane Hudson and Theda Bara.
Mary Testa and Donna Murphy are good choices. Jan Maxwell would be excellent as well, but couldn't bring the same vocal interpretations that the other two could. BUT, my first choice for the role would be Marin Mazzie. She would completely own the stage and it would be so great to see her in a good musical comedy role again. Maybe she could finally win a Tony!

Agreed. The original production was sublime.

Y'know, I began to write down my casting ideas...but I realized that this is just about the worst thing to happen. Another over-produced family-friendly, sugary sweet, touristy revival.
It literally makes me angry at the thought that the theatre Annie will be playing at will close one more door to an original musical trying to make its way out there.
That being said, I hope they use the "it was all a dream..." ending xD
