"The sun will come out tomorrow"
I saw the original & Annie Warbucks & I ask why.I would much rather see Annie as a grown up hanging with Punjab in NY of the 50's. Make her a little hard edged.
The original production was absolutely magical (I might be biased as it was my first Broadway show). Loved the set design and the way the set changes were done. I also like the ideas of Beth Leavel, Jan Maxwell, Jackie Hoffman or Mary Testa as Miss Hannigan. I have no idea why they want to tinker with anything. I saw the revival shortly after "We'd Like to Thank You Herbert Hoover" was removed (it was still listed in the Playbill), but that was one huge gaping hole.

I'm glad this is being revived. I don't know if I will be seeing it, but It's great that there will be a traditional family-oriented musical on Broadway (not just disney.)
Taking Hoover & NYC out of the movie killed it for me.
I'm TEAM CHARLES BUSH
(though if they could get Sarah Jessica Parker for Hannigan....)
I would love to see Nancy Opel as Miss Hannigan.

Haters gonna hate, but Allison Janney as Miss Hannigan. I just keep imagining her during "Easy Street" and cracking up. The woman can do comedy.
Although, I love the idea of Jan Maxwell, too.
I actually liked this idea, but I'm hardly known for good taste.
Also, I LOVE the casting suggestions for Hannigan, but somehow, the idea of Marin Mazzie intrigues me the most.
Poor ANNIE, she needs a rest.
"It literally makes me angry at the thought that the theatre Annie will be playing at will close one more door to an original musical trying to make its way out there."
REALLY?! You think that if ANNIE is on Broadway, some new musical won't ever get produced?

Megan Mullally as Hannigan
Jewishboy, love Marin Mazzie but I think she comes off as too sophisticated for Miss Hannigan. Of course she'd sell "Little Girls" and she has talent to spare so she could only surprise (Donna Murphy has a similar issue, though she successfully slummed it in LOVEMUSIK).

so i never really knew much about the revival with Nell Carter... what was the song that was added? what was it about and when was it sung and why did the creators hate it?
I keep thinking this is more like "breaking wind" than "breaking news" ...
I love the idea of Allison Janney as Hannigan, but it seems a little predictable to me. I always think of Janney as the new Burnett, and in my mind- having grown up with the film- Burnett is and always will Hannigan to me.
Jimmy Fallon actually mentioned this on his show tonight. He said the new ending would have Annie being adopted by Brad and Anjelina.

Ok that brings me back to the question
WHY THE HELL ISNT ANDREA MCARDLE A HUGE BROADWAY STAR!!
She has a voice that is better than anyone on stage now she can belt and also sing soft and beautiful..
she is a beautiful woman and deserves a show....I will never figure out what is wrong with producers of broadway shows...
as you can probably tell she is my favorite singer
Listen to As Long As He Needs Me on her Broadway album
between her voice and Chris Bottis' trumpet it is a spectacular rendition....best out there ~~~~~
This is one of my all-time favorite shows, and I love that it is getting another Broadway run!
I will be there!
