It may not matter, but I believe you make a lot more money on Broadway than the West End, and with the Olvier in his smock pocket Bertie probably had a sweet contract, they may have increased had he won that TONY.

I think Kristen Chenoweth should play Miss Honey.

Nothing would ever drag me to this bore of a show again. But I do like Craig Bierko and I do wish him well. ( He used to workout @Crush in LA. He had the hairiest back. Nice guy. Had the humor of a old drag queen).

Huh? Does he have to be gay to workout at Crush? I don't know. I never asked him.

It should also be noted that Richard Blake (Wicked, Wedding Singer, Legally Blonde)has joined the show as the Escapologist, replacing an injured Ben Thompson.

Is he also covering Trunchbull?

I think if they did want to go with a woman in the role Missy Pyle would be at the top of their list (at least if I was working in Carnahan's office she would be). A Google search says that she's 5'11", so with a bit of a heel and/or lifts in her shoes she would easily be towering over the children and she has shown in films such as Dodgeball that she is not afraid to play a grotesque character.

^^Missi is way too beautiful for Miss Trunchbull, even with makeup.

But, i do wonder what the Trunchbull would be like with a woman.

Lame. I hate when people leave a starring role less than 6 months after it opens. Most people sign annual contracts, I wish I could have seen him but I get it if he wants to go home. Boo.

Really? Because this:

is definitely a beautiful woman who's not afraid to get ugly for a role.

Beyond size, you need STRENGTH- some of the stunts, like swinging the child, are very physically demanding.

Interesting point, WOSQ. While I do find Bierko to be inspired casting, I would LOVE to see what a biological woman would do with the role.

She was played by a woman in the movie.

Pam Ferris:

I'd like to see Jennifer Saunders play it.

I'd love to see Mary Testa do it, but I don't think she's anywhere in the neighborhood of 6 feet tall.

Yeah, Dot-Marie Jones seems like a no-brainer, but can she sing well enough to make it through the somewhat complicated score?

Chris Hoch has also joined the ensemble, replacing John Sanders. He's playing Sergei and covering both Trunchbull and Mr. Wormwood.

Yes, but Pam Ferris is teeny-tiny IRL. Also for Miss Trunchbull, you have to be able to do some acro. Not sure Janet McTeer would be up for that...

They imagine her more like a realistic pantomime Dame - I'm a woman and I'm not offended by her being cast male.

When I saw Carvel's performance, the name that kept jumping into my head (were he not too old and always a bit too frail) was Richard O'Brien.

Alex Gaumond has been cast as the next Trunch in London - you'd think he's too long and thin but I actually think it's inspired casting.
