Posted: 4/8/10 at 10:49amIt's funny because mockery threads happen constantly as well as personal petty nastiness (and sometimes outright bigotry), yet somehow this one gets severely trounced while others are positively revered. If this thread were started by some of the people who are criticizing the OP, using exactly the same post, I think the initial reaction would be the exact opposite. It's not that I'm defending Miracle Elixir specifically, but this really seems like a rather bizarre mountain/molehill reaction to the sort of thing most people celebrate on the boards. Personally, I just thought the original post was as innocuous as most of the threads mocking immature threads started by students.

What an entertaining and loathsome thread!
I'll add my hat to the ring - I find chirpy intermission texts that reveal nothing interesting or specific about the production, to be a waste of time and space. You have the right to share them, but I maintain the right to dismiss them as useless.

That's okay, newintown. I find your posting that said "Reliable source claims that they're putting in Me & My Town for Kritzer" to be even worse than useless when the information turns out to be WRONG and the song she had been rehearsing for over a week was "Now You Know," which went in the next night.
Did your "reliable source" make up that she was doing "Me and My Town"?
Or did you make up that you even HAVE a reliable source?
It's annoying enough to read anonymous assertions of authority when they turn out to be true. When they turn out to be FALSE, as they did in your case, you only look foolish.

I don't know what the chaos is that's going on in this thread, and I'm sorry to be a positive voice here, but I saw The Addams Family last night was very pleasantly surprised. It ended up being an extremely enjoyable two and half hours (I would say that maybe it's a bit long). There are dozens of one-liners that you just laugh hysterically at.
The set is fantastic, as is the lighting and the special FX. I loved the book too. I'd have to admit though, the music isn't all that memorable.
I'm very curious to read the reviews tonight though.

My two cents: I don't follow all the petty stuff on the message board (who said what to whom back in such-and-such a thread, etc.) But just looking at the original post at its face value alone: it is pointless. Just saying something is "so good" without any backup as to why, and making that judgment at intermission no less, and it being from a third party on top of it all---well, what's the point? I find that to be an opinion of no merit to report.
(NOTE: Seeing this show this weekend.)

Posted: 4/8/10 at 11:54amOooh, Joey, quelle bitchinesse. So unnecessary. Yes, my source provided wrong info. I apologize for the hurt and injury it seems to have caused you. I hope your recovery is complete and speedy. I can tell from your tone that you must still be suffering great pain.

I developed Sondheimian stigmata, actually, but the wounds healed miraculously when it was confirmed that Leslie was singing "Now You Know."
Seriously, I'd like to know why your source would say that, knowing you would post it publicly.
