Actually, I wasn't really a huge Diana fan prior to Brooklyn. I never even saw her on American Idol. The first time I saw Diana was in Hairspray. I liked her, and was looking forward to seeing her in Brooklyn--and she exceeded my expectations. I was just overwhelmed. A much better show that what everyone had said and an incredible voice.

I saw the show 1 last time today. Not a single understudy the 4 times I went. I'm really going to miss the touring cast--they were all amazing. The audience seemed to be more into the show than the other 3 times I saw it (probably because the audience, for once, was more than half full). There were some women sitting a few rows behind me, right after Love Fell Like Rain, who started laughing, saying, "He's offstage," thinking they got to see a messup in the show. I think they may have had a few drinks...

Got pictures with Julie and Diana at the stagedoor. I asked Julie if she got her flowers, and she said she did--and she said thank you so much and that it's really nice to walk into her dressing room to find flowers from somebody she doesn't even know. Got a really awkward "wedding picture" with Diana. She remembered my name! re: Brief Brooklyn Tour Review-ish--8/4/06 I went to get an autograph--and she said, "hey, how are you?" and I said, "I'm great...do you remember me? Your...Dallas husband?" and she said, "Yeah, you're Parks and your friend (the one who was with me when I gave the flowers) was Maleah," and I walked a few feet and said, "Um...I'm going to go over here and faint." She laughed. She is so sweet. I told her I'd try to come see her in Hairspray, hopefully--and she said, "absolutely! Come visit me." as I was walking away, I said, "I love you, Diana!" and she said, "I love you too, sweety!"

I may be a little depressed these next few days--I'll be having Diana withdrawals :-P.

Aw, Parks! Hopefully, you'll be able to see her in Hairspray again! And yay, more pics! You'll have to link us when you get them uploaded! Julie sounds really sweet, too! Thanks for the great review! Can't believe there's only one stop left...

I've been back and forth on seeing it next week in San Jose. Maybe I should. And now that tickets are UNDER $15 I may just have to.

I just got back from Dallas after seeing Sunday's matinee. Well, I saw 6 shows since Thursday but that will be another story. I just had to get my 2 cents in before I went to bed, but you just had to be there for the final show. The audience was actually blown away. Diana did such a unbelievable rendition of “Once Upon a Time” the audience actually started cheering and applauding before the final note was completed and it continued until Diana took a second bow. “Streetsinger” was also fantastic. Cleavant and Diana were electric. Each caused the other to raise the bar. At the end Diana, held that long high note what seemed forever. Here again, the audience started cheering and applauding before the song was over and continued until Diana and Cleavant took a second bow. I will write more tomorrow.

Oh, Parks, you're awesome and I think Diana thinks so too. You definitely have to "visit" her in NYC. Thank you for your review. While I can't say I'm much of a fan of the actual Brooklyn show, the singing and performances are just amazing.

Mateo2, can't wait to hear more from you. I think the duet between Cleavant and Diana is one of the best things ever. Diana has said that her favourite part of the whole show is that duet.

I'm still writing the balance of my review so I will have to post it later. But I will post it in a separate thread since I do not want to step on Park's fantasy. lol

I said to Cleavant that he and Diana were Magical in the duet. He had a very big smile on his face and said that it is very special to him also.

Parks, I have to say honestly say that I didn't think Diana would be able to pull off the singing from Brooklyn. Now that I've "heard" some of it and she did blow me away! Comparisons aside (what's the use of that anyway?), you can tell that Diana is working HARD to continue to grow as an artist. GOOD FOR YOU, DIANA!!
