Diana DeGarmo Tweets Her Casting In Nat'l Tour Of 9 TO 5
 Jul 28 2010, 05:18:24 PM
"I believe Diana has a previous connection to Dolly? Something about a gig years ago in a Dollywood Christmas show".
------------------------------------------------------

Diana sang at the Music Mansion in Pigeon Falls, a theater that had a partnership with Dolly's corporation, over 10 years ago. Diana was there for the summer and Christmas season. Diana actually did not meet Dolly until April 2008.

I have no doub that Diana will bring a new light to Doralee and is an

Funny Girl, With Sherman Hemsley, Aimed for Broadway Revival

You are correct best12bars about casting Fanny. Being a big Diana DeGarmo fan, I was going to suggest that she should play Fanny, but after reading your post, I do not think it’s that good of an idea. Can she be funny? No doubt. Can she sing the score? Absolutely. But a Jewish girl from the lower east side? I do not think so.

Diana was considered for playing Fanny in a regional theater revival of “Funny Girl” but that was regional theater and not Broadway.

HAIR (New Cast) Reviews
 Mar 21 2010, 02:33:35 AM
I saw “Hair” Thursday night for the first time since its original run on Broadway. I can actually say that I lived the life and have known many girls like Sheila, and guys like Berger and Claude. This tribe, Thursday night, brought quite a few memories back to light and I thought that the entire cast did a fantastic job. For me Kyle, Steel (I was disappointed in not seeing Ace) and Diana were real people and I though their acting was true to embodiment and emotions of that generation. Ky

Excuse my naiveté, but the last time I saw “Hair” the stage was so dimly lit that you could not tell who was naked and who was not. What has changed?

re: Diana Degarmo Stepping into the Toxic Avenger
 Jul 16 2009, 11:45:25 PM
This is great news that Diana is coming back to NYC. "The Toxic Avenger" is a great medium for her to not only show off her voice but her knack for physical comedy. I went out to LA to see Diana in "Back To Bacharach and David" and the talk was that they were going to bring the show back to Off-Broadway, with Diana, so this announcement was a bit of a surprise to me. Another surprise is that Diana is going to be a blond once again. But both are very pleasant surprises and I'm sure this show

Diana was also on MYFOX in Dallas. Diana's song, "Someday", was not cutoff by commercial. Here is the link to that performance.

The shows on February 24-26-Huntsville, Tx at the Old Town Theatre, are in conjunction with an organization called Expedition Broadway, which is an organization that gets kids involved in theater.

Parks, I had a feeling that you would respond to this thread. I got to see the Dallas performances also and sat in the subscribers section with quite a few misplaced NY theater goers. Before the show began they also were not expecting much, just a Saturday night out, but by the end of the show they were all amazed by vocal performances and that it made the show quite enjoyable. For me, it’s also the vocal performance that made the show. Being a Vietnam vet I could have done without that on

Would there be any difference in seeing "Godspell" in preview than after opening night?

Welcome back to Broadway Diana! I sure hope you get a chance to sing some country music for us New Yorkers y'all.

Diana in "Godspell" and singing "Bless the Lord" I'm sure she will be amazing.

re: PAUL C. VOGT in Hairspray?

"The only problem with Paul Vogt is that the actor who plays WIlbur (the guy from Dear John) is dragging him down. They have no chemistry, and Dear John Guy just seems to be there to collect a check".

Fosse, your are correct. Jere Burns looks like he is just going through the motions. Steve LaRose worked with John and Blake, over the past year, and had very good chemisty with both; but that is another subject.

I’m sorry that I did not get a chance to see Harvey Fierstein as Edna but my favorite was John Pinette with Blake Hammond a very close second. Paul is very good but sometimes he lets his voice get too deep. But like John and Blake, Paul is very funny at the stage door.
BROOKLYN the musical: Your Thoughts

"Brooklyn – The Musical” may be an acquired taste but so is the borough of Brooklyn."

"Wow. How long ya been waiting to use that one?"

Not Long, RentBoy, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing.

Again, I’m not saying BKLYN was the best show but it’s definitely not the worse. I’ve met people who walked out on “Wicked” and “Cats”. No argument here, just personal preference. A good show with bad performances, in my opinion, is worse than a bad sh

BROOKLYN the musical: Your Thoughts

Plays mean different things to different people. I had Brooklyn in the Blood long before “Brooklyn – The Musical”. 8 show live, 2 in Hartford and 6 in Dallas only confirmed this fact (I saw the Broadway performance on the website to be nameless). Sure the book isn’t the best (the Vietnam scene brought back abysmal memories) and the costumes may not be Broadway worthy, but you can say that the costumes were at least original. You can also say that the songs were a little over the top

"And I love that Penny is taller then seaweed, it's very funny".

Yes it is. But I also find that the difference, in stature, makes Seewead look like a little kid.

re: American Idols on Broadway

I do not know about the others but Frenchie Davis and Diana DeGarmo earned their way to Broadway by doing regional theater. Diana was fantastic as Maria in WSS but still had to audition for Penny in “Hairspray” and Brooklyn in “Brooklyn – The Musical”. They just didn’t give her the part as they did with Fantasia. Now, when you can’t sing or act, that is stunt casting.

Fantasia Is The New Celie In Purple
 Feb 17 2007, 11:55:44 AM
admanrich, my sentiment also. It’s not a matter of Fantasia being able to sing or act, it’s the matter of does she have the chops to do 8 shows a week.
