So happy to finally own a recording of this. An old roomate had some audio a few years ago. He would blast it every morning in the shower. He loved seeing it in NY. He told me all about it, we're both fans of certain same things. Si it has been on my mind since. Got it this weekend from Sh-Ka-Boom. It was that something missing in your life that although not so big, it made a difference when it finally appeared.
Why did I just write all that?

there is a fan site from the original production. the link is http://www.ilanalevine.com/blbc/index2.html
the synopisis is for the original show so since then characters and songs have been cut so you may get a little confused!

I would give it a few listens too. Because I think it is absolutely addicting. I can't stop listening to it, I'm so impressed with the performances.

Allright, I'm trying...
I'm totally impressed with the performances, and there are definitely some really excellent numbers. But the CD as a whole just didn't wow me either, iluvtheatertrash. It's grown on me with a few listens, and I do like it a lot, but I'm not seeing the love and addiction I wish I did.

I do enjoy Patrick Wilson as Jamie, but I would love to her Norbert Leo Butz sing the role!! Also Gavan is great on the CD!!!! I would also like to hear Norm Lewis as Tad!!

Norm Lewis was by far the best Tad in my opinion.. Norbert played Jamie in an early reading of the show..

Gave it six listens total and really tried to love it but.... I don't.

I'm currently really into listening to "Odeon" over and over. Something about it just pulls me in. The seductiveness toward the end is pretty hot, too.

I'm going to be doing housework tonight with this CD as my motivation/background music.
EXCELLENT.
And I do hope that Patrick will be available to participate in the launch party and associated events! And I hope there are lots of photo-ops so everyone can enjoy!

I LOVE Jesse, but.... Norm wouldn't be so bad either. In fact, vocally, I might just love him even more.

Has anyone seen the commercial about the woman who checks her mailbox everyday for her tax returns and when it still hasn't come, she yanks the mailbox out of the ground in a rage? That's me!!! Betty is still waiting.
Ok you guys.
I got my CD yesterday, and was SO excited, but I couldn't listen to it right away! So, I put it in my ipod and I was listening to it on the subway later (I'm an NYU student). Then, just as I was walking through Washington Square Park (alone, at 1am), I was a little creeped as always, thinking I really shouldn't do this. But my friends had gotten off at another stop! Just then, track 3 came on:
"I am Mary O'Brien McCann. I'm a student at NYU. I am missing. I was last seen in Washington Square, wearing a sweater and blouse. I am missing. Please could you find me, please don't go. Please could you find me, please don't go. Don't go."
I have never been more FREAKED OUT IN MY LIFE!!!! (not even at The Pillowman) I ran all the way back to my dorm like a crazy person. AAAHHH!
I needed to share that with someone.

Yeah, that would've scared the hell out of me.
Haha... omG. I'm NEVER going to be able to listen to that song now. I keep having to skip it.
Okay I'm joining the party a little late here.
I've been listening to BLBC and overall I really love it! The cast on the recording is out of control. Talk about a dream cast!
There were a couple moments - especially earlier in the CD - that made me cringe a bit. Mostly the "Coma Baby" refrain. But I think that may be because I haven't seen a production of this show. Does it work better within the context of the show? Same for "I wanna have sex tonight" being sung by a chorus of people. And "I love drugs." It sounds silly? Again, seeing the show might help here.
But those gripes aside, I am LOVING this CD and dying to see a production of it! The material written for the character of Jamie is so rich and interesting. Sung by Patrick Wilson you really can't go wrong. But I'd love to see/hear someone else's take on this character. His songs and lines are so good!
And where did Sharon Leal come from? She blew me away instantly! Not only does she have a beautiful voice but she seems to really "act" the songs without overdoing it.
Jesse Martin and Sherie Rene Scott - I am totally biased here because I love them both to pieces. SO nice to hear them both on this recording.
Too many favorite songs to list here! I would love to see this in person!
Anyone here see the NYTW version?

In the original production the "I Love Drugs" song goes on for a bit longer... Also the Coma baby segmant is about a story in the New York Post that Jamie follows daily...
