Yes, we knew this. If you read through the posts, you'd see that a bunch of people already mentioned that she was an understudy for Laura Bell Bundy in RUTHLESS off-Broadway when she was a pre-teen.
Tiff, Toxic is a guilty pleasure of mine too.
It seems whoever wrote the lyrics (Eric Idle?) for Spamalot had tremendous foresight.
In the second act, Sara Ramirez has a solo about not having a solo (anything can happen in a Monty Python show! :P), and in one line she worries about being replaced by Britney Spears. Let's hope those fears don't come true (though, obviously, Britney would not be doing Spamalot... Drew Lachey's contract is up in March, isn't it? Perhaps Rent will have a new Maureen, as its BIG on the stunt casting nowadays?).

Ah, where are the suicide threats? Like when we heard about Miss Duff on Broadway? That depresses me...
But, yes. Sad, Sad, mournful day.
Whew I missed a lot apparently.....
1) Wicked is good show but the sheer fact that it led Britney to an epiphany about her life IMO somewhat indicates her depth(or lack thereof)
2) Does anyone know why(drug and alcohol abuse aside :)) some kids who can sing very well when young, seem to lose the ability with age? and I know some people who couldn't sing very well at all as children but now have phenomenal voices?
3) Britney is cool, but the reason I like Broadway in the first place is the caliber(mostly) of the performers and adding Britney to their numbers is almost an insult.
ALl that being said,if she was in an all-dancing show that would be fine. More than anything the reason I can't see Britney on Broadway is that I think the sucks so hard at acting
Firstly, on behalf of my nation, may I just say KEEP HER AWAY FROM US!!!!!
Thank you.
Britney's a good entertainer, but her shows revolve around lip-synching (god did my ex hate it when I pointed out the half the time her lips weren't even moving! He couldn't take his attention away from the oh-so-obvious miming for the rest of the show. Rather spoilt it for him ) and the grand spectacle, backed up by a crowd of dancers.
Ok, so maybe she'd cope with TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, then.
Btw, there's several reason why superb child singers can sound appalling as adults:
1) They overdo it as children - their voices are so remarkable for their ages that they are pushed too far. People believe that because they have voices beyond their years these voices are fully mature, which of course is not the case (prime example: Charlotte Church. Example in waiting: The Labbadia sisters).
2) Their technique is poor, but this isn't noticed - usually because they sound naturally good so the parents think there's no point in them having singing lessons because they don't need it.
3) As they get older their voices simply change. Plus, they are older. Remember, a lot of child singers are remarkable for being able to sing like that AT THEIR AGE. They may possess voices just as strong, or with the same quality of tone, 10 years later, but they are then being compared to adults, who (through training) may be far better at using their voices and controlling breathing, tone, and power. The benchmarks change.
Excuse me while I vomit and cry at the same time.
Someone keep that tramp as far away from Broadway as possible!!

I thought Laura Bell Bundy was the understudy and Britney was the principal.
Anyways, I'll also admit that I was a HUGE Britney fan, but when she was in her "bubble gum pop" age. After Britney, her third CD, came out, I started caring for her music less and less, eventually just forgetting about her. For old times sake, I burned all her CDs to my iPod, and maybe on occasion I'll listen to some.
Yes, she is a good entertainer, but her voice isn't anything special, not to mention she is a lip-syncher (as many of you had already said). She is a good dancer, though, maybe she can be in one of the dancing shows.
I saw a concert of hers 4 or 5 years ago, and I don't think she lip-synched a lot in her earlier stages - it is more common now that she has matured and changed her style of music.
Laura Bundy and Britney were BOTH the principals. Britney REPLACED her. Meaning when Laura left the show, Britney took over her role. Clear now?
I do also believe Natalie Portman played the same part that Britney and Laura played in Ruthless
