It seems like there are oodles of plays, but I can only think of a few musicals. What am I missing?
I'm thinking of:
Falsettos (and the trilogy from which it originated)
bare: a pop opera
Bare: The Musical
A Man of No Importance
The Book of Mormon
The Color Purple
What's out there that I'm not thinking of? I'm looking for musicals where the show makes explicit both the character's queerness (they verbally state that they're part of the LGBTQ community or otherwise express same-sex attraction or a diverse gender identity) and faith (they state that they belong to a faith community or are shown participating in activities of a faith community), rather than something where you can read a character as queer.
