Bigfoot! at MTC City Center

That Times review sounds like a high school book report.

Kad you really hit the nail on the head. Grey Hensen is fantastic, and I was laughing a lot but I’m not really sure what it all adds up to. The humor felt like an 30 Rock episode but the stakes were totally nonexistent. I’ll also add that any time there was some sort of morality baked into the show, it was just hammered over our heads. Without grounded characters it can’t come naturally, it has to be served to us on a platter. The tone felt similar to Big Gay Jambo

Im usually a Jamie Lloyd defender but the sheer amount of productions he gets on Broadway is getting a little ridiculous.

I listened to the few Wanted songs that were released and was so impressed. I wish they were coming in this season, they would probably sweep the awards.

I'm a huge Amber Ruffin fan, especially after her work on Some Like It Hot so I’m curious how this pans out.

Set in the town of Muddirt, a glow-in-the-dark oasis that exists somewhere between a chemical dump site and a nuclear power plant, BIGFOOT! is a larger-than-life musical tale of corrupt politicians, small-town paranoia and misunderstood youth. When that youth happens to be eight feet tall, innocent and in dire need of electrolysis, it makes him m

What happened to Julie Taymor?
 Jan 31 2026, 01:16:16 PM

Crazy to think that her last recent Broadway stint was almost 10 years ago when she directed M Butterfly. From what I remember the kabuki and geisha elements were quite spectacular as expected for Taymor, but the rest of the play was rather stiff.

Sat center last row Loge for Ragtime and it sounded glorious.

Saw this upstate this past summer. I was worried it would feel dated in the AI era. Actually it felt even more poignant as ever.

There is a huge difference between a socialist political systems built into a government, and a single democratic socialist mayor in a country where the president is so conservative he’s basically re-doing imperialism. It’s dising

The Winter Garden becoming a play house wasn't really on my Bingo card.

Don’t forget Wolf Hall back in 2015! Although that only ran at ~60% capacity on average which is rough for any show.

BUG Previews

Saw this last night after hearing about it for years. Act 1 of this production has virtually no tension whatsoever, to a point where people were laughing at things just to feel something and try to find the tone. I do wish we got at least SOME paranoia and fear in Act 1, or at least some sort of indication that we’re going there. Or at the very least some crackhead energy — for people constantly hitting the pipe, in Act 1 they were… really mellowed out.

NYT: As Regional Theaters Struggle, Some Defy the Odds

I can tell the woman from that Florida theater is a republican from 1,300 miles away. The way she talks about “agenda” in that specific Florida/right wing way. Blech.

I may dislike her and her taste but if that’s the attitude of the town she’s in, she’s got the right mindset to make that company’s sales thrive. Thriving artistically is another story, but if you’re in a conservative town like Naples it’s probably a lost caus

I wonder if having the Broadway credit gives them some more legitimacy for song rights. Marla has said on a podcast that since theaters don’t do ASCAP licenses, a lot of the Celine songs they originally planned for had to be replaced. “All Coming Back To Me Now” and “That’s The Way It Is” being a couple, since they are in “Bat out of Hell” and “& Juliet” respectively.

On the other hand, if it ain&r

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with Nathan Lane (1996)

I also remember a Tony awards years ago where Josh Gad joked about playing Pseudolus and I was like… wait I’d go.

Forum is one of the few Sondheim’s I haven’t seen and I’d love for a revival of some sort. I know a lot of millennials feel the same way. There hasn’t been a major production in New York in decades.

Practice at PH

We’re on the same page. I was oversimplifying. I think what makes the show so thought provoking is the matter of perspective of that second act. To the actors it’s a day job. As the audience of Practice it’s actually self aware and impressive. But to a blind audience watching Self Awareness Exercise 001 without knowing the mindf*ck they needed to do to get there…

Hassan’s two plays I saw this year truly rip the standard structure of theater

Why don’t Off Bway shows report their weekly grosses?
 Dec 11 2025, 04:34:12 PM

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the only reason we get Broadway grosses is because they report them to The Broadway League. I don’t think there is an Off-Broadway equivalent, nor do I think there’s any interest in putting one together. It’d be an additional regulatory task required by the producers that they frankly don’t have time or money for.
