The Broadway Beauty Pageant (formerly known as Mr.Broadway) was held tonight at Altered Stages...
1. Who attended?
2. How was the show, overall?
3. Your opinion on the hottest contestant(s) and demonstrated-skills?
4. *DRUM ROLL* Who won?
Wish I could have been there to support the guys...
THANKS FOR ANY INSIDER INFO!
PS: I'm slightly entertained with the number of Missed-Connection Craigslist M4M ads posted tonight with The Pageant as their subject-line :)

After a little snooping around, I do believe Marty Thomas from "Xanadu" won. Congrats Marty
He did and he was fantastic! Besides him, the contestants were Joe Komara (Mr. Grease), Austine Eyer (Mr. Curtains), Tommy Berkland *(Mr. A Chorus Line) and Danial Robinson (Mr. Hairspray).
Mr. Hairspray was the runner up for his lasso performance although I thought it should have been Tommy mainly for those tighty whities.
My favorite (out of the contestants) still had to be Marty who did an... interesting rendition of "Rolling on the River" with that beautiful voice of his. He also had the most personality by far.
My favorite overall was not a contestant at all. Frankie Grande who was last year's Mr. Broadway -although that title has since been dropped for legal reasons- stole the show without question with his loving but only a little creepy Gypsy tribute in his Lord of the Rings inspired Golem voice!
Overall the show was great eye-candy and extremely entertaining!
I wish I could have gone! Why did they have this the same day as the Easter Bonnets? Just doesn't make any sense.
Michael Reidel crowning the winner was interesting.
That duck voice of Frankie Grande was creepy.
SOunds like fun!
For those who have not experience the GRANDEUR that is Frankie James Grande, prepare to be amazed.

HAha that's a little creepy.
For those who are interested, I saw some pictures from this event at wireimage.com.
I'm surprised they only had 5 contestants.
So was I, Dottie. Last year there were 7. I hope there are more next year!
I'm also surprised one of the hotties from Legally Blonde or In The Heights wasn't entered. Luis Salgado anyone?
It's an awfully pale group if ya know what I'm sayin...where's the flava?
And Joe Komara is hot, but he kinda looks like a young skinny Blake Harper. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
Each show should have been represented, especially with the talent (and hotties) that abound Broadway. Though maybe the timing was bad (i.e., Easter Bonnet competition).
Well, if any of those guys volunteered, they would have been there!

Yeah I was told that the casts pick who they want to represent them. Of course after that the guys have to agree. I wonder how many actually WANTED to compete?
Dottie, FYI Luis Salgado was in the audience, I believe.
It was a pretty fun show overall. AfterElton has some great shots (see link below).
Some highlights for me...
Marty Thomas all around was a delight! His talent, the big number "Proud Marty" was fantastic, his interview portion really showed off his personality and confidence, and his swimsuit - best described as the black Xanadu t-shirt turned into a speedo and lit-up rollerskates - brought down the house. (Extra marks for making his Proud Marty costumes by hand - that's a lot of fringe and jewel glueing!)
Tommy Berklund was adorable! His talent showed off a lot of his, erm, talent! And his swimsuit was very cute, it was a speedo version of the 'One' outfit, and he came onstage doing the One entrance. Another highlight was during the interview portion when Seth asked him if he knew the ballet comination from A Chorus Line, then proceeded to get on the piano so that Tommy could do the part - while in his suit! Seth also made Tommy do his Greg introduction, and asked about the Chorus Line movie. (I believe the question was "The movie. Why?") Tommy deserved many points for being a good sport.
Daniel Robinson was fantastic as well. His lasso routine was fantastic (as were the jeans), his interview was strong (I think Susan was gobsmacked, because all she could ask was his Alaskan background), and his swimsuit...well...as Hunter Bell brethlessly said when some guy came in right after Daniel left the stage, "Omigod, you just missed like the best moment in musical theatre ever!"
Joe Komara was very funny during the interview routine, defending the vacation swing track to Seth. He was also first in talent, and got off to a great start with a great song and production number. And his swimsuit was very cute.
Austin Eyer won major points for his continuous 'pageant flair', clearly he'd had some pageantry in his past! His talent, a crazy version of Drowsy's "Show Off", including baked goods, spoons and some impressive vocal(?) talents hard to describe here. (But Linda Lovelace better watch her back!) And his swimsuit, especially the pose, was an instant classic.
Kudos to the two little sprites that flittered on and off stage as the running crew.
After Elton
It was a splendid time. Marty Thomas was amazing! Everyone did a wonderful job, and the three judges were hilarious! Especially the droll Susan Blackwell!
everythingtaboo, thanks for the wonderful recap!!
OMG! Luis Salgado is so freaking hot; I LOVE HIM. What was he doing in the show? what are the requirements to be Mr. Broadway?
