even though Hair's capacity was only 71.9%, it's grosses likely brought in a profit. Their average ticket was a nice $90.56 and TKTS is selling tickets at 30%-40% off($90-$80).

looks like the dregs are keeping ROA going pretty strong!
you stay classy, massofmen.
Shrek 4 comes out in May of next year. The cast just recorded some material for the eventual promotion around the release. I would bet that the studio keeps the show open until at least the end of that summer. For them, the show keeps promoting the brand and even if the losses were $200k per week for a little while, that's not so much in studio terms when you think of the brand awareness gains.
I wonder if they will do some sort of discount, if you see the show, you get a free movie ticket? I know they aren't in a place to give away free stuff, but I wonder if that might help?
I think Shrek should take whatever they can from the holidays and then close right after in the beginning of January. It might do better on tour. However, it's hard to predict Shrek's closing because even though they aren't doing well, it's Dreamworks and they will try to keep it open as long as they can and they have the money to do so.
Just because Shrek has a new movie coming out this Spring, doesn't mean they will keep the Broadway show running. The show has nothing to do with promoting the film. It would be stupid to keep it open for another year with these losses. It doesn't really make sense that they would think "Who cares that we're losing $100,000-300,000 every week, it'll be good promotion for the movie." Everyone already knows Shrek. If anything, it would be the opposite and the movie could boost the show's sales if the show does remain open 'til then.
