Yay Chitty certainly benefited from the beginning of summer finally breaking out of the 70s...thats right folks 9.7% increase from last week

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

Thanks for posting this, Margo. I was surprised to see that Piazza was down 4 per cent. Anyone have any ideas why? The numbers are still over 90 per cent, so hardly anything to worry about, but most musicals were either up or stayed roughly the same.

I didn't realize James Earl Jones was out sick last week:

"It's not the sound of the loons that are attracting people to the Cort Theatre; it's mostly James Earl Jones. Last week, the star missed seven of eight performances due to pneumonia and the On Golden Pond box office suffered as a result. It was down $54,642 as compared to the previous week (when Jones missed only one performance) to come in at $162,053. The show also filled the 1067-seat Cort to 36.11% capacity on average. No doubt there will be an upswing when Jones returns, which is expected to happen later this week."

It is seriously strange that the top ticket price for Spamalot for the last 2 weeks (the only 2 weeks BWW has had the weekly grosses listed as well), is only $101.25. Strange strange strange.

Premium prices are not included in any of the box office reporting.

Then what about the other shows which report their top ticket prices of $240?

I'm surprised and glad that Streetcar is maintaining at around 70% despite the reviews of the play compared to other plays which are around the 40% attendance. I liked the production.

I don't understand how Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf is doing such poor business. It opened to amazing reviews and strong box office, so why has it died so dramatically and so quickly?

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I think its so sad that plays with good reviews like Virginia Woolf can't find an audience and drek like Chitty can. It says a lot about Broadway audiences.

You're right, it does say a lot about Broadway audiences. You'd think producers would eventualy get the message, and put on stuff that Broadway audiences want to see.

I just hope Sweet Charity hangs in there so I can see it again in the fall! Loved that show!
