"But again....you can't tell people how to spend their money."

Who's telling anybody anything? You appear to mistake a moral opinion for some sort of demand for legislation. There's nothing unusual about believing that it's more admirable for the wealthy to support social programs than to spend millions on a questionable commercial venture that's failing because no one much wants it.

If you believe the latter does the world as much good as the former, it's just my opinion that your values may be skewed (in a very popular American way). But they're your values, and you're free to keep them.

That's not even a question. She is absolutely taking a percentage of the box office.

If Waitress has recouped, my ex's birthday gift to me will be a part of that sum. I'm kind of happy to hear that something good ultimately came out of our time together. "It was a pretty good bad idea, wasn't it though?" Sigh.

I hope we get an In Transit album. I like a lot of the music I've heard. If Glory Days can get a cast album, any show can get a cast album.

In ADDITION to her royalty? What is she doing? Walking in and telling the treasurer to get his hands up? LOL

No. She just has a good agent. There are several other shows currently running on Broadway that have this arrangement with their writer(s). Try not to be so shocked.

P.S. I missed you, Hogan. Happy to be back and providing some necessary knowledge!

It's still a royalty, no matter how enhanced it might be.

I didn't notice you were gone. But "knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven." (Shakespeare, W.) so if you have some, great.

The problem with your logic is that the producers aren't putting money "into the show" == they are paying people for goods and services.  People are earning salaries, people are selling their wares, and their crafts.

It's not like there is a little box called "In Transit" and the money goes in there and sits quietly.

All of the people who are part of the economic machine called "In Transit" are benefiting every night from this show, regardless of the "art" of it.  That includes the performers of course, but it also includes all the house staff, and the vendors who provide it, and the restaurants who feed the people coming to the show, and the taxis, etc etc.

Without getting into the politics of it -- I think most people would rather have a good paying job than being eligible for benefits.

I must say, one side of that argument is as illogical as the other...
