oh, THE WEDDING SINGER went back down
and hopefully the reviews (which will hopefully be good) will boost SPRING AWAKENING
I'm shocked at how poorly Mary Poppins is doing.
Poppins had to give out comps for opening week, which accounts for the down turn. It will spring back up next week.

Usually a show's gross takes a dive on opening night week because of all the comps it has to give out; however, the percentage capacity was somewhat mediocre since this show was expected to be Disney's biggest hit since The Lion King.

Why is Wedding Singer fluctuating so much? It goes up 20%, down 14%...I just don't understand it.
This confirms my suspicion that the entire opening night of Mary Poppins was comped...too bad I couldn't get in. I would have paid full price.
I would have paid twice full price for Opening Night...
but if it's comped, does that affect the percent capacity? It is very poor.
Yes, a comped ticket has no dollar value, so it is not reflected in the show's attendance figures. The percentage figure is for paid attendence. About 20% of the house must have been comped for the critics performances and opening night. Again, it will go back up next Monday when figures are reported for this week.
I see. That is very odd, I always wondered why opening week grosses are so low. Thanks!
TARZAN is going down fast.

Wow, Spring Awakening limping out of the gate despite good word of mouth and all that publicity. Pray for good reviews.
What publicity?
Besides preview grosses mean nothing.

I’m curious. Why is Tarzan doing so poorly? It never seems to get out of the 70%'s. Is this enough for them to break even on a weekly basis? I saw it and it wasn’t that bad. Even that stale cheese Beauty & the Beast averages in the 80%’s.
Is it because Disney has too many similar shows running simultaneously? It looks like they cut into one another's profits. What will happen when they open Mermaid?
Have you heard word of mouth on TARZAN?
BEAUTY ain't no chesse.
It's brie.
Well word of mouth hasn't really affected other Disney shows. Why Tarzan?

I remember reading once during customer service training that good word of mouth creates an impression for one person, but bad word of mouth creates an impression for ten. Considering the press and word of mouth for Tarzan, it's not getting the buzz with audiences that it needs to get astronomical numbers. Getting shut of the Tonys didn't help either.
