At what point will that be decided? What does it have to do to be considered a hit?

Make a profit. Right now it’s skating by.

From what I see as the rumored weekly cost, it appears Bttf to be on a 18 to 24 month recoup path. So does the length of recoupment change the overall description of being a hit?
or a other way to ask, how much profit, or percent of profit, weekly does a show have to make, to not be considered “skating by”. I would think profit, is profit.

Profit is profit. The producers can't be mad at these grosses. Will it ever get to 100% on Broadway? I don't know. But for now it is making profit, which cannot be said about a lot of other shows.

No, shows can take anywhere from a few months to a few years to recoup, and they're still accurately described as hits once they've paid their investors back.
There have been shows like Sunset Boulevard that ran for several years but didn't recoup. Its weekly grosses were probably greater than its costs for most of the run - which is why the producers kept it open - but the cumulative amount was not nearly enough to pay off the initial capitalization.

This week is always historically rough.
Finger's crossed, the non tourist shows at least break even.
