I find it amazing that Leopoldstadt is grossing as much as it is, has the average ticket price that it does. And is playing to 80% capacity.  Clearly, they are not selling the cheap seats.

I don’t understand how there is no way to better sell the inexpensive seats.  This is in demand for expensive seats but a dud for less expensive.

Have to admit that I cheaped out, saw it from the second balcony — something had to offset the price of the Funny Girl tickets — and enjoyed it immensely.

Regarding Some Like It Hot, I think their advertising materials are just awful.  The poster with faceless cartoon characters just isn't appealing.  The posters for the original film really played up the sexiness of Marilyn Monroe.  Nothing about this new poster screams sexy.

Do people still buy tickets based upon newspaper reviews?  I prefer actual audience reviews from a site like Show-Score.  This gets a lot of positive reviews there, but even many of the people giving positive reviews there still only rate it something like 85%.

Yesterday on a travel board some folks were asking for help getting last minute tickets to something/anything for this weekend.  I looked at ticketing sites & all the big musicals are very well sold, with little last minute availability.   People seem to want to go back & see a sure thing instead of testing out something new.

The advice to the traveller's from all who weighed in was if they didn't want to pay resale prices for Funny Girl, Music Man etc that they could probably wait & line up at TKTS for a newer show like SLIH.  I think they ended up getting a pair MM tickets for $2000.  If you have the means that probably is the best choice.

I NEVER rely on newspaper reviews. I read them, but they do not determine whether or not I buy a ticket.
