Ouch, Disaster.
Shocked that Hughie filled so many seats.
Edit: Also, really bad week for Neverland, no?

"Shocked that Hughie filled so many seats."
If your attendance is 96.2% but your percent of gross collected is only 48.7%, about 1/2 of your house is in on paper. That equals only about 370 paying customers per performance. Or everyone got tix at TKTS.

I paid half-price, as I assume many others did.

Hughie did some papering last week.
Not so hot for Disaster- they couldn't even comp out the house either.

The long term prospects for "Disaster" look very much in doubt. I thought that it would have been a better fit for off-Broadway. Good showing for "Chicago". Is it the effect of having a celebrity/sports figure Billy Flynn? It is interesting that there is not much in the way of commentary about the current Billy. How is he doing?

Any ideas of which shows will call it quits this year?

Neverland is probably gone soon, and Something Rotten! and Curious Incident probably won't make it to the end of the year.

Disaster! doesn't have long term prospects. It is a limited run that will end either way in July. Or sooner.
I dont think anyone seeing Chicago truly cares what retired sports player is playing Billy, to be honest.

July seems like a long-term prospect for DISASTER to me.

Well, it's obvious that you don't care. To be honest, I was asking about those who have seen the show with the current Billy. It's not so much "care", as "curious" as to how he's doing in his role.

Neverland did NOT have a bad week, what the hell are you guys talking about?

The Neverland numbers are interesting - attendance dropped, but revenue increased. Fewer people attended, but they appeared to pay significantly more than the prior week's viewers. Holiday weekend suckers?
Although the gross number $841,122 looks healthy, it is only 46.4% of the potential. Anyone know the running costs?

Maybe it is true the producers are buying all the tickets

Neverland played 9 per last week compaired to 7 the week before. That explains a revenue increase despite an attendance drop.
I think the running costs are about 700k for a 8 show week.

It's a shame Allegiance couldn't have finished stronger but given their historical grosses, at least their last week was respectable. Regardless, I'm glad I saw it.
I wish An American in Paris would just give in and sell rush seats somewhere other than the nosebleeds.

Neverland is such an awful show. I don't understand why people like it.

I agree, but on the bright side, I can now use Neverland as a gauge for other peoples' theatre tastes. For example, if someone tells me they loved it, I know he or she has terrible taste.

Or we can all just respect the subjectivity of theatre and not judge people for liking the things they like.

That's what I thought until I saw Finding Neverland.

I am a staunch advocate for and believer of supporting subjective artistic tastes and diversity/range of opinions. But jeez, Neverland was just so gosh-darn bad, people. You can only go so far.

Everything is subjective, but I think it should be easy to spot something so cynically put together. And just sub-literate.

I understand where you're coming from. I don't understand people who like Cats, or people who liked Kinky Boots more than Matilda, but at a certain point you just have to shrug it off and accept it.
It's also not always so black and white for people. For me, I agree that Finding Neverland was not very well put together, but I also found things to like about it. I'm a sucker for Peter Pan sentimentality, and relatively forgiving of a show's flaws when I feel that it has an emotional core that resonates with me. What I bring to FN as an audience member is completely different from what you brought, and thus we had completely different experiences.

Considering the high percentage of successful musicals that are garbage, taking umbrage that something you consider organically bad borders on delusional. The sole purpose of a Broadway musical (not counting the nfp's) is to make money. Most shows that are considered "good" artistically are flops. Which is why Hamilton is so extraordinary.
