For the first time, Book of Mormon takes out both Wicked & Lion King to become the top grossing show for the week. Kudos to Porgy & Bess for keeping up it's good numbers. maybe it'll extend through the end of summer??
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Ouch for my favorite show, "Chicago." But I guess "Chicago" has weathered many similar winters before...right? from RC in Austin, Texas (visiting the Big A from March 10-13, 2012)
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
It wasn't long ago, that 'Book Of Mormon' was grossing $800k a week, we were saying on here if Mormon could make it to $1m a week. I wish I put money in the production when they asked me!!!
Book of Mormon continues to dominate although Wicked, Spider-Man and The Lion King are still doing great business. I think H2S will close once Nick Jonas' contract is up unless they can lure back Darren Criss for a longer run or another name for Finch.
I doubt they would bring back Darren. He was terrible. And he could never sustain a longer run than three weeks. They would need another huge star. Frankly I would love to see Stamos come back and play the role again. he was brilliant when he took over for Broderick. John Barrowman would be good as well.

Why not rotate Stamos, Barrowman, Broderick and Morse? I mean, it's not that any of them are way too old to play the part anyhow...
Listen, I don't take my clothes off for anyone, even if it is "artistic". - JANICE
Well I will presume that you were not serious about Moorse (now 80), and Broderick is visibly aging. And lets remember that Moorse was 30, Broderick was 33, and Stamos was 33. Stamos is now 48 and Barrowman 44. Stamos, and especially Barrowman read in their 30's. No way are they too old to play Finch.
lol, he isn't thaaaaaat old. Actually if I could have a dream cast it would be Greg Jbara as Biggly and Christopher Henke as Finch. Joel Grey as Womper/Mr. Bratt and Niel Patrick Harris as Bud Frump. haha but that is just me dreaming
He sold tickets before he even took the stage because it was a limited run, so there was an immediate rush to get tickets. And based on the under-whelming performance he gave, and how the show sold the second half of Dan's run, and right now, bringing Darren back wouldn't be worth the money. Unless it would happen to be for another 3 week run before someone else took over again.
They asked Elijah Wood to take over for Radcliffe, but Wood declined. I think that would have been great!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Nick Jonas isn't selling tickets. There's no way that John Stamos (who couldn't sell tickets in Birdie or Nine) would fill the Hirschfield. Casting John Barrowman, Bobby Steggert, or Christopher Hanke would sell even fewer tickets.
However, with for example a Christopher Henke, the running costs would be considerably lower. So they could get away with 600-700k/week no problem. And Jonas' ticket sales will pick up in Mar ch.
