Why are they continuing to let Hot Feet run? It must be disheartening for the very talented dancers in the show to see mostly empty houses night after night in the cavernous Hilton Theatre. The show has such a big cast and budget that it can't possibly be making any money.
Good news for pretty much everyone else though.

Actually Vespertine, the dancers in HOT FEET do not play to empty houses as there's a lot of papering going on.

Posted: 5/31/06 at 12:51pmYeah, I gasped when I saw that Munk. That's really good. Glad to know it's getting some attention. Good for Color Purple too. Now, if only Wedding Singer could get it's ticket sales up. I guess the whole "recoginizing the name" idea doesn't work.

Posted: 5/31/06 at 1:02pmAt 72 (or 77) percent, I forget which, that's not horrible for a new musical with no stars that got negative reviews.

If they have the money, more power to them.
No other show would be in the Hilton now anyways, and the dancers are extremely talented.

Posted: 5/31/06 at 3:01pmYEAH DROWSY! Over 100% in the Marquis is amazing! Congrats!

Posted: 6/1/06 at 1:23amCongrats to The Color Purple. Three weeks in a row with over one million in ticket sales and placing at number three behind Wicked and Lion King. WOW!! It's great to see such a wonderful show doing so well.

So is the word-of-mouth for Tarzan good?
I'm starting to plan my annual January trip to bway-with-the-kids (ages 10 and 12) and wonder if maybe that's a good choice.

I'm suprised Tarzan's numbers are increasing. Maybe there is word-of-mouth from family to family, but the critical reviews weren't incredibly positive.
Still, a great week for the Great White Way as a whole, especially Drowsy, which is managing to get over 100% in the Marquis, an amazing feat.
The only question is now: How long will Hot Feet Last?
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/2006#15
Posted: 6/1/06 at 9:45amI'm confused how DC is over 100%. They have the $25 rush and lotto, but those are in regular seats (or is the first row not regular seats?). I didn't think the Marquis had standing room...do they? How'd they get over 100%?
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/2006#16
Posted: 6/1/06 at 9:52ama lot of the times they won't consider the box a regular seat

so how do you get over 100% ticket sales?? Do people not show up and they sell their seat or something??
man poor lestat ... it got a boost. But even in its last week it was only 67%

Posted: 6/1/06 at 11:11amI don't think the Marquis has box seats? I've been in that theater a lot and I don't remember them. I could be wrong though.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/2006#19
Posted: 6/1/06 at 12:56pmI think they have SRO, I remember there being numbers on the railing behind orchestra seating.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/2006#20
Posted: 6/1/06 at 1:45pmNot to be the party pooper (again), but I'm pretty sure the sound guys are right behind the orch. And there's no SRO info listed anywhere for DC.
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/2006#21
Posted: 6/1/06 at 2:24pmThere is standing room at Drowsy, but bizarrely it's only in the mezzanine (and there was a previous poster who said you can't see anything from SR there).
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/28/2006#22
Posted: 6/1/06 at 2:46pmThe sound board doesn't take up all of the room behind center, left and right orchestra though.
