bww is just drawing the league's numbers, which are the official numbers. They reflect the number of seats that are for sale, regardless of the actual number of potential seats.

philly, the number you're quoting is most likely the venue's maximum capacity. In a quick look at the grosses of other shows that have played that theater, SPIDER-MAN is the only production that has utilized a seating configuration over 1900 in the last decade or so. Each production has the leeway to alter the seating capacity based (usually) on staging, so long as the capacity does not exceed what is given on the venue's public assembly permit.

Plus, if the number of seats figure was wrong than most of the percentages contingent on that fact would be incorrect. It's not something you just guess, Philly.
Trust that the Lyric has 1874 (or 1873) and the Gershwin has 1807.

On the Town must be suffering under the delusion that they're going to A- win best revival and B- that will boost box office. Tell that to Company, which closed right after winning in 2007.

Anyone think An Act of God will be discounting soon? It seems they are doing well but their prices are pretty high for a 90 minute play.

<< "Truth be told, enjoyed OTT a hell of a lot more than AAIP" >>
So did I! I liked On The Town a LOT better!
For what it's worth, I thought On the Town "fit" into the Lyric Theater quite nicely, and I certainly didn't at all mind the wide aisles and that fact that you can actually cross your legs when seated. On the other hand, the Lyric certainly does have lots of seats for a show to fill!

It's a difference of 26 seats, so… I'm sure you have some bigger issues in life that you need to be concerned about.
And if you really need to know: I am fairy certain some seats were killed for the production at the Lyric in order to accommodate the orchestra and the in-aisle performances during "Lonely Town" so they don't have their full 1900. Capacities can change, pinto, get over it.

Yeah i know capacities can change. YOU are the one that needs to get over cause you think you're so right, and are telling people wrong information that you're not even sure about!

Pinto, there is one and only one correct number and it is the number registered with the League for a show; that number is shown on the League website and also here and elsewhere when the Leagues' data are reported.. That number is not static from show to show because of changes in configuration to accommodate the show and also because, sometimes, seats are blocked off and not sold for whatever reason (most often to reduce the number of ushers for shows that are not selling very well). These numbers can also change during the run of a show, especially due to the latter, but also sometimes because certain seats are found to be interfering with the production in some way.
The one and only correct number for OTT currently is 1874.

Yes for On the Town, but i never talked that show specifically. I was just telling you the resident number of seats the Lyric has, which is over 1900!

Pinto, what possible relevance does that have to this discussion?
For your information, Yankee Stadium has 49642 seats, making it the largest venue in the city.

Pinto, you could start a thread entitled "Maximum Seating Capacity of Broadway Theatres"
You will note that you originally responded to a post that listed the official capacities of the theatres at the current time by mentioning the larger capacities with no seats eliminated, which was and remains irrelevant in that context.
You also seemed confused about who you could trust and how one could know that what BWW listed was correct.
It was explained to you that the League data is the official capacity and that BWW simply embeds the Leagues data each week into its report of the grosses.
Now that you have been provided with the answers to your questions, and an explanation of why what you are talking about is irrelevant to the discussion, the intelligent thing to do (assuming you are trying to seem like an intelligent person instead of a fool) is to just say "OK, thanks" and move on to something else that interests you.
