jimnysf wins!
I would LOVe for TWS to last a long long time, but I don't see it happening. Even with the AI reject.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 3:10pmThey need to throw in the towel for The Producers. I don't care if it's still making money, it's just a shame.

Posted: 8/29/06 at 4:04pmConstantine has already alienated many of his closest fan due to some of his recent decisions but I do hope he can help TWS out, even if his fans do not come to support him.

While I don't disagree that Constantine's lost a small number of some of his fans, I'll say he still has a very strong fanbase that has already started buying tickets and making travel plans. Don't know that he'll be a big enough draw to make a huge difference on the ticket sales, but he's still got a lot of support out there.
I think it's the more casual AI fan that will respond to his casting. His name recognition may mean the difference for someone that's trying to choose between TWS and something else at the TKTS window. Even if they didn't love him on AI, they may choose to see him just because they recognize the name.

Maybe "mejust..." is hoping that if the show closes:
1). Producers will get the message that not every mediocre film needs to be turned into a mediocre stage musical and
2). A better show will be financed, produced, and staged in it's place using original songs and, let us pray, without the current trend of game show contestant "actors".

Jimnysf - cheers to that. It's really funny that there are better shows in Fringe and the NYTF than actually on Bway. I think Grease will be going into that theatre.

"WEDDING SINGER at 56.9% and $447K -- NOT good."
Yet when I went they couldn't sell me student rush, even though they supposedly sell remaining tickets for student rush. Hmm.
