Ouch DRS! What happened there?
Wedding Singer is looking pretty rough. What are the running costs for that thing?
Wow. It's sad how excited I got when I saw this posted. I've been lurking around the site for two hours waiting for the weekly grosses...I am a loser! :)

DRS - Norbert's gone
Wedding Singer running costs: I've heard about $600,000.
Not a good sign.
SO does the heat wave play into the drops at all or would it just be marginal?
Last week I learned not to used the percentages as the Holy grail of who's doing well.
Unfortunately this means that this week, I have no idea what I'm looking for really.
However I would venture to say that:
It does not look good for DRS - a $100,000 dollar drop in a week, from a week that was only marginally better than the previous week does not a successful show make.
If the Wedding Singer is a show that needs $600,000 to break even, than that is also not good.
But I'm always one to look on the bright side - perhaps producers will see these two spawn-of-cinema not doing so great, and start thinking "maybe it'd be better to do something different and original"
*points* Oh look - I see a pig flying.

Ugh. That list is just plain ugly.
The weather could be a factor, but one would think that some of the tourists would have liked to spend a few hours inside of a nice cool theatre. I guess they all went to the beach instead.
Maybe the heat had something to do with it? The locals didn't feel like trekking to a theatre in the 100 degree weather to see a show?
But ouch DRS and Wedding Singer

Geez, the Marquis is FREAKING HUGE. "Drowsy" is the 7th highest grossing show currently on Broadway, but is the 7th lowest percent full. What a cavernous, curse of a theatre!
It's the money that matters...not the percentage of filled seats.
I think it's pretty safe to say that DRS and THE WEDDING SINGER are on their last legs.
THE PRODUCERS isn't looking to hot either.
And it looks like time is running out for The Lieutenant...
Whoa! It certainly doesn't look good for DRS or The Wedding Singer.
maybethistime--I doubt the producers of Jersey Boys would feel cursed being in the Marquis. Drowsy is a fun show which ought to do well anywhere. It could very well pick up steam and end up needing the space. TCP is doing great and uses every seat.
I wouldn't say Wedding Singer is on its last leg yet. They could still very well experiment with stunt casting. Look what Haylie Duff did for Hairspray!
I don't think HAIRSPRAY's miniscule bump has anything to do with horse face.

But Hairspray has been running for over 4 years, has already recouped and has made a profit in the millions so bringing in a name to create buzz and bring ticket sales back up to near sellout status makes perfect sense for them at this point.
In the case of Wedding Singer, I don't think I've ever heard of a struggling show stunt casting less than 4 four months into its run (Wedding Singer only opened at the end of April). The leads all probably signed one year contracts which would have to be bought out at great expense and some major name(s) would have to be brought in at even greater expense. All this for a showing that's been losing money for most of its run. I doubt the producers would make such a costly move.
I really hope "The Wedding Singer" can hang on. I love the OBCR and hope to see it the next time I make it to NYC.

Oh gosh. The Wedding Singer and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels desperately need a boost. I'm thinking stunt casting. Oh gosh...

Well looks like the Imperial and the Hirschfeld will be open by years end.
