I was the Phantom in fourth grade. Pretty badass costume IIRC.
Suffice to say I was a gaaaaaaaaaay child.

In high school my senior year I was Audrey from "Little Shop of Horrors," black eye and all! So like Mr. Nowack, certainly very gay.

Several years ago my awkward 15-year-old self was Johanna from Sweeney Todd. Nobody knew who she was, but I was so happy I didn't really care. I was appropriately serenaded by someone who did understand too, which was lovely,

I was Elphaba 2 years ago. Ran into Glinda (the movie) AND Glinda (The Wiz) in a club. It was quite comical. I'm about 90% sure them both Glindas ended up going home together that night. Wonder what happened...

A few years ago, I dressed as Rum Tum Tugger from Cats. Everywhere I went in New York, people kept shouting "Lion King!"

A DIY "Broadway star" costume.
take a white shirt and write Broadway in black sharpie. Then take a yellow sharpie and draw a star below Broadway.
