Did we know about a Hair tour?
The Ahmanson is getting the out-of-town tryout of Leap of Faith in September.
I actually want to see most of these, which I am happy about. I am a little disappointed that the TBD show is a family show. I was hoping for Next to Normal or an extension of the Chorus Line tour(which probably won't happen anyway.)
Do you guys think the Family show to be announced will be the Little Mermaid Tour? Its only there for a short time so i don't think so.
Actually Karatekid your avatar reminds me that it could be Beauty and the Beast. Or something non-eq. because of the shorter run.
My guess is Beauty or Mermaid. Or something new.

wow, after the worst announced season ever, they really came back strong. I might even have to subscribe depending on the TBA.
The season looks great!
I thought the Ahmanson would have gotten Hair, and I doubt they'll be getting 9 to 5.
I'm not expert or anything, but I assume that the Ahmanson will get Next to Normal, and the Orange County Performing Arts Center will get 9 to 5.

Rain - A Beatles Tribute was here last season over the summer. It was better than I expected. But it helps to be a real Beatles fan. The visuals were pretty impressive.

Don't you guys think Billy Elliot will come?
Billy Elliot is going to end up going to The Ahmanson
The TBA show is something that is "returning" to la.
"Ahmanson will get Next to Normal, and the Orange County Performing Arts Center will get 9 to 5. "
I bet that's how it will happen.

BLAST!!! If only Hair were coming to smaller venues.
I keep trying to think of a theatre in LA more suited for Hair but I can't think of any.
What other major theatres are there in the L.A. area? I am actually glad there is two returning shows(that are announced) because I missed Phantom and wasn't very interested in Rain, but I might see it this time around. Also, when does the Ahmanson usually announce there season?

is the Ahmanson better than the Pantages? i've always been under the impression that Pantages get better shows whereas Ahmanson get what's left. it seems like all the big shows have been at Pantages.
also, i hope it's Mermaid that gets the "family show" slot, but who knows.

the ahmanson is a much larger than the pantages, and i think that they have gotten just as good shows as the pantages. they get out of town tryouts and the pantages usually dosen't. I am excited to hear the next season there!
emo_geek : I personally think Hair would be better off in the Ahamnson.
BwayTday: The Ahmanson should be announcing soon. At least that's what they told me. If you're refering to the major theaters that play touring productions, then it's just the Pantages, and Center Theater Group (Ahmanson, etc). Drive a little farther and then it's the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and San Diego.
Those are just the major touring venues in SoCal.
Camncal: I beg to differ. I think the Ahmanson gets the better shows. I mean look at the 2009-2010 Pantages season!
I LOVE everything that Center Theater group does.
Ranking the major venues on shows they get, it'd be like this: ahmanson, pantages, OCPAC.
The OCPAC seems like it's always the last to book touring productions.

i love the ocpac because if a show is coming here to LA and I either loved it and want to see it again, or didnt get to see it it will usually be going there next or sometime in the future. I also love how they put on more of the Older Tours like Hairspray that dont really get around to places to much...
Ok just making sure that I knew of all of them. I was always under the impression that the Pantages was bigger than the Ahmanson...oh well, the OCPAC trumps both of them, close to 3,000 seats. I actually appreciate the OCPAC because of what broadwayboy987 said. It is turning out to be a pretty good season for all the theatres in So-Cal, based on what has been announced.

i live in LA and been to both. i think Pantages is bigger. Ahmanson is tighter and there are no bad seats there, whereas at Pantages, if you get double letters or side orc, you're going to have a hard time seeing. Pantages go from A-Z, and the continue with AA to ZZ, and at Ahmanson, the last row is X, but they have i think 7 rows in the front that starts with AA, BB, CC...etc. Pantages is also wider.
I appreciate the OCPAC because it had Xanadu.
I hope I didn't come off as though I hate the OCPAC, because I don't.
I was just complaining that the OCPAC always gets shows after the Ahamnson or Pantages get them. Xanadu of course was an exception :)
But I guess that's to be expected from being so near LA.
Camncal- I always assumed the Ahmanson was the larger venue. On the contrary, I always thought any seat at the Pantages would be fine since it looks so small.... Or maybe it's just been awhile since I've visited the Pantages.
