I find the Ahmanson, even with more seats, to be designed much better in a way where more of the seats have a better view. The pantages started as an old hollywood cinema, so the designing of the seats was probably limited to what the were confined to.

The TBD Kids Show is the Nickelodeon Live! Show that will be going around.
I agree with what others have said about the Ahmanson as far as seating. I have sat in the back row of the orchestra and still felt connected to the action. At the Pantages, unless you're in the first 15 rows or so, you feel like you're in a different zip code.
The main reason I prefer the Ahmanson over the Pantages is that the Ahmanson uses its own ticketing system, so you can select your own seat based on your preferences ( and I've never had trouble finding decent seats). At the Pantages, you have to deal with Ticketmaster, where finding a good seat is only usually due to sheer luck, and the service fees add up to 20% or more.
Another valid point about the Ahamanson, I wish all theaters had a ticketing system like theirs.
Since it's so close to LA, I'll just post it here..
Hair is coming to the OCPAC Jan 25 - Feb 6 , 2011
& Wicked is returning to CA (2nd Nat. tour) March 9 - April 3
I'm surprised that Hair is coming, just cause it's so close to LA and most people that subscribe to the OCPAC are in the older, rich demographic.
But this is great news!
Oh wow, a kids live show at the Pantages. It hurts me.
Actually OCPAC gets alot of shows before/after LA, but the gala can be large. Also, OCPAC is getting Banana Schpeel? Eek. If that the family show....oy...I want My Little Pony Live!
*they haven't announced it, but this is what Broadway Across America lists..
OCPAC 2010-2011 Broadway Season
South Pacific : Oct. 21-24
Banana Shpeel : Dec. 7-26
Hair : Jan. 25-Feb.6
Wicked : March 9-April 3
Mary Poppins : July 13 - 31
West Side Story : Sept. 6 - 18
This looks pretty complete doesn't it? I'm sure they'll have more with their curtain call series...
The TBA show is
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and they should be announcing today
Didn't someone on the first page mention that Spring Awakening is in the season?! What is it supposed to come?
Yes SA is part of the season. Its for 1 week only.
6-7 shows is pretty complete for a season from what I've seen.
Of course there can always be add-ons.
Beauty was just announced va their Twitter and iPhone app.
Next To Normal will be playing the Ahmanson around the holidays, as well as Leap of Faith. What else is guaranteed for the Ahmanson?
^Recently I got a survey from the Ahmanson about possible plays for the future and there were some really good choices, of which both NTN and Leap of Faith were on the list. Here are some that were included in the survey:
Billy Elliott (I'd bet this is a sure bet and the lady I talked to at the Ahmanson at Dreamgirls wouldn't confirm or deny it when I suggested it was coming); La Cage Aux Folles; Memphis; A Little Night Music: Cirque du Soleil at the Kodak Theatre; Ragtime (Oh please let this go on tour!!!!!); Next to Normal (confirmed for the new season); Fela; Leap of Faith (also confirmed); Funny Girl", a new production of the 1964 hit romantic musical; Les Miserables (25th Anniversary)--(already announced for London and the Gammage in Tempe has this on their list for their new season; Rock of Ages (Looks like this is at OCPAC instead) and Million Dollar Quartet.
Lady at the Ahmanson said they were a month away from announcing the new season which will be April 7th when I spoke to her.

Looking at Broadway LA's season, as well as comparing other cities' seasons, I'm guessing the Ahmanson season will be:
Leap of Faith (already confirmed)
Next to Normal (already confirmed)
9 to 5 (coming back home to its roots for a limited engagement, like The Drowsy Chaperone did)
Billy Eliott
Les Miserables
From that survey it seems like A Little Night Music, Million Dollar Quartet, Memphis, and La Cage Aux Folles would be for atleast 2011-2012. Of course A Little Night Music could possibly starting a tour there. I would be happy to se Les Miz come since I am the one person who has never seen it.
Funny Girl would be interesting just to see who they cast in the lead. And Ragtime! Yes, please.
The Pantages is much larger than the Ahmanson. The Pantages seats more than 2,700. The Ahmanson ranges between 1,600 and 2,000 depending upon the configuration.
