re: Broadway/Musical songs that make you cry

I'll Cover You (Reprise) from RENT
Finale from Wicked

I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

And Starbucks will use the words 'large' and 'small', not pretentious crap like grande and tall.

re: Broadway/Musical songs that make you cry

I never really cried but there's this incredible feeling of sadness in the pit of my stomach when I first heard these songs:

Nobody Needs To Know (Last Five Years)
I Know The Truth (Aida)
A Little Fall of Rain (Les Miserables)
I'll Cover You (Rent)
Will I Lose My Dignity (Rent)
Memory (Cats)
For Good (Wicked)

"I haven't got a pail." "Find your grail, your GRAIL!" "But it's not missing. It's right on the counter where it's supposed to- defying gravity, my giant cup's gone!" "Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes. How do you measure... measure a year?" "How many times do I have to tell you, it's five hundred twenty-five thousand, five hundred and eighty-five point thirty-two minutes. You will never graduate if you keep basing your math on showtunes." "You ruin Broadway for me." "As well I should."

Everyone cries during "I'll Cover You: Reprise"! I don't blame them. It is such an amazing and emotional song.

Grow Old Along with Me from LENNON (OMG, between the song and the narration in the middle, I lost it every time I heard it; and I heard it many times. Julie Danao was perfect and so was the song.

Will I Lose My Dignity from RENT.

Empty Chairs and Empty Tables
and Bring Him Home both from LES MIZ

For Good and Defying Gravity both from WICKED

Stranger in this World from TABOO and not sure of the title, but Liz McCartney sang it also from TABOO (You Think You Know Me Well...I know My Faults)

re: Broadway/Musical songs that make you cry

- "Still Hurting" - The Last Five Years
- "I'm Not Afraid of Anything" - Songs for a New World
- "Will I?" - Rent
- "I'll Cover You (reprise)" - Rent
- "Finale B" - Rent

Also, if it is well-acted, "Defying Gravity" can be a bit of a tear-jerker, from the point when Elphaba flies. Jenna Leigh Green's portrayal was so spot-on that my eyes welled up with tears of joy and sympathy for Elphaba. It's a bit cheesy, but she made me really care about the character. Kudos to Jenna.

"What About Love" from The Color Purple made me cry sooooo hard, and so did the reprise... that was a-maz-ing..

re: Broadway/Musical songs that make you cry

If i really sit and listen to Last 5 years "still hurting" gets to me and the end of "Goodbye until tomorrow/i could never rescue you" makes me get a bit teary eyed every time when he sings about how much he loved her and they both say goodbye. Both songs are written so beautifully and are very sad as well.

re: Broadway/Musical songs that make you cry

I get really sad when I listen to Goodbye love and I'll Cover you reprise...but I don't cry.

I can't liten to Without you (RENT) without crying. I like the song but I usually just skip over it because I can't handle it.
