When I woke up and saw the announcement and his name part of it, I assumed that’s who he’d be and I got a big smile. On paper, Parsons does seem totally wrong for this role but he might be brilliant. But as for some of the other casting, maybe I’m just a traditionalist prude but an almost 40 year old playing a high schooler doesn’t make me feel any confidence in this. Might as well get John Travolta and Stockard Channing to play George and Emily so we can all be fully in on the joke. 

I’ve seen it done with “older” people in the roles and haven’t found it to work. But like Parsons’ casting which on paper seems odd to me, maybe it’ll all work great in this version.
