Broadway Shows Which Should Come In & Ones That Should Leave

What shows would you like to see on Broadway in the near future and which ones do you think are overdue to get the hell out?

I would love to have INTO THE WOODS, or SWEENEY TODD and HAIR.
I'mt not sure which ones should get out....... let me know what you think

Not sure about ones I'm dying to see, but I think PotO has long overstayed its welcome.

I really wish the revival of "Into the Woods" hadn't closed. I'd like to see "Sweeney Todd" as well.

As much I love the show, it's time for "Rent" to go. It's becoming dated and it's really clinging on for its life.

Other than that, I don't really mind anything that's playing right now.

I believe that Sweeney Todd is due with a stellar cast, Assassins is thankfully arriving and Ragtime could use another shot in a few years.

Aida has got to go as does Taboo, I hate to say that since the actors who work there give such excellent effort but the shows themselves would be weak with any cast.

Hmmmm.....

Yes, I have to agree....Phantom was pretty stale when I saw it. But, it's like the "Pirates of the Carribean" at Disneyland. If you are a tourist, it's one of those "must see" events.

Still, I was very under-whelmed.

Looking forward to Wildhorn's CAMILLE CLAUDEL with Linda Eder - hope it makes it to Broadway. Also the new Cy Coleman, Alan & Marilyn Bergman, Larry Gelbart show 2LIKE JAZZ that's currebtly trying out at the Ahmonson, LA.

Would love to see revivals of PASSION or 110 IN THE SHADE.

Would love to see MAMA MIA disappear (preferably off the planet LOL)

I say that if Les Mis can go, then Phantom sure can. I'm also going to second Mamma Mia.

I can't wait to see Assassins on Broadway. YAY!

My parents saw Like Jazz at the Ahmanson (actually I think it is at the Mark Taper, isn't it?) and they enjoyed it.

Either Beauty and the Beast or Aida can go. You can flip a coin to decide which. Phantom can leave; I think everybody's seen it already and as one of the less compelling megamusicals I think its time has come.

Of musicals that have already been written...I'd really like to see Camille Claudel, and I'm hoping that gets sprung on us sooner rather than later. I'd love a Chess revival, but not with the dreadful revision that played in Stockholm. I could stand a revival of Sweet Charity too. Maybe Merrily We Roll Along. Other than that...I'd like to see the London Martin Guerre, not the badly rewritten thing that toured the US. Yup yup.

But I'm with Al about AIDA. Every week a new "star" is announced I've never heard of! I realize I'm thus older fart material ... but do people who KNOW who those Post-Whitney-Destiny-Divas-of-the-month are really wanna plunk down a hundred bucks to see them in a 4 year old Disney show? No longer selling records, Toni Braxton comes for two months when she needed spendin' money (to ward off bankruptcy again?), gets the keys lowered for her monotonous alto throb, and doesn't do matinees or a percentage of the evenings. I'm waiting for the day when the whole damned thing is lip-synched.

you know how I hate to agree with you - but I simply don't truly understand the "stunt" casting AIDA is doing. I am clearly not in their desired demographic because I haven't even really HEARD of these supposed celebs they have coming in....

Ooh, I forgot about Camille Claudel! Just about any show with Linda Eder and Matt Bogart would get my thumbs up :) And in addition to Phantom, I think Mamma Mia should go. Haven't seen it, but the stuff I've heard from it is damn annoying.

I completely agree with everyone here about PotO. Its past time for the show to go.

I don't know much about the show itself, but some of the music from Chess is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see a production of this show. I also want Ragtime back...it was such a brilliant show and did not deserve to close.

I heard that Camille Claudell is no longer coming to Broadway?

Anyway,
Shows that can go: The Lion King, POTO, Chicago (I love it, but it's time to move on), Rent

Shows that can come: I'm open to anything new so long as it's not Disney (with the exception of Mary Poppins), and as far as revivals: Mame, Evita, Sweeny Todd, My Fair Lady

I think every show but Mamma Mia! should close, and then every theatre should get it's own production of Mamma Mia! and we can go see them all and decide which one we like best! Yea!! PS- I get to play Tanya somewhere...
If Lincoln were alive today, do you think he'd be pleased with his tunnel?

It probably would be too much of a good thing, but I just love it when people who haven't seen it bash it. Look at the receipts honey...

I believe it's Rent's time to go- great, great show, but it's time to go. It had a great run, but now it's time to let it go.

I agree with the person who said if Les Miz can go, Phantom can go. Many people have seen it. It had a long run, now its time to see it leave.

I do NOT THINK Beauty and The Beast or the Lion King should go- these are two of the only realy, wholesome shows for children.

I want Ragtime back, as well as a Sweet Charity revival, AND I'M WAITING FOR WEST SIDE STORY!
