Broadway Shows Which Should Come In & Ones That Should Leave — Page 2

I would love to see Hair they did it a few years ago at Encore's so I doubt it will come back quickly.
I don't want any Broadway Shows to close.
What I would love to see:
A Chorus Line- Perhaps my favorite show of all time
Pippin- Bring it back!
Edna (Dame should bring her recent show from Australia to the great white way) I'll drink to that! Oh more Stritchy please.

You need to get a new brain if you think Mamma Mia is a good show. Aida needs to go, so does Mamma Mia and Beauty.

Speaking of Swenny I wish they'd be bring in back and use the man who played Todd in the kendey Center verison awhile back, I wish there a recording of that Stokes was probaly a great Todd.

It's too early for Ragtime or Parade to close both great shows but Garth was an iddoit.

And I know it's only been for a year or so but Millie is a piece of trash I've said before or other posts it need to go, I aslo argge that Rent is not the same show it was when it started it too needs to go

Needs to Go: Rent, Thoroughly Modern Millie
Needs to Come Back: Sweeney Todd, Evita, Sweet Charity

I'm not ready for Rent to leave. I still think it is an amazing piece of theatre. Sweeney Todd had a Tony-award winning revival at Circle in the Square, and the concert with (miscast) Patti LuPone, so I'm not too keen on it coming back yet. Into the Woods just had a revival, so we don't need it again any time soon.

I wouldn't miss Phantom of the Opera or Aida if they left. I would love to see Anderson and Ulvaes' Kristina Fran Duvemala as well as a new production of Chess. Witches of Eastwick would be great with a new set design and a cast headed by Kevin Kline, Ruthie Henshall, Joanna Riding, and Jane Krakowski. I also loved a wonderful little review I saw in London based on Beatles songs called All You Need is Love. The orchestrations and performances were outstanding, but it needs a new set design and better choreography.

Boublil and Schoenberg's Martin Guerre would be great, but only if it were the first version. I'd also like to see the ballet of Wuthering Heights for which they wrote the score. I heard the demos of Camille Claudel and Dracula by Wildhorn. Both sounded rather dull and had nothing memorable, so I can skip those.

For revivals, I really want to see Pajama Game and possibly Redhead (this show fascinates me) and maybe an Encores presentation of Goldilocks and Flohooley (what wonderful scores!). And Broadway really needs proper production of Carrie. That show had such potential and was really screwed mostly by the awful staging and costuming. Only a couple numbers need to be cut or rewritten to get this show on its feet.

OH! And Return to the Forbidden Planet in the big Broadway production it deserves. I saw the London revival and it was astounding. That show was so much fun and I've never seen a more talented cast. Is there another show where the cast must act, sing, dance, AND play 3-4 musical instruments EACH doubling as the band? Pump Boys and Dinettes comes close, but is still a far cry from this amazing work.

The Sweeney Todd revival didn't win a Tony. Apart from hearing the score played on synthesizers, it was a wonderful and rewarding evening, though it didn't have the run it deserved. I loved Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury in Hal Prince's staggering original production, but was surprised by the emotional peaks reached by Bob Gunton and Beth Fowler in the intimate hothouse environment of the revival.

I won't pass an omen on what should go...but Poppa's comment holds some weight. He alluded to the thought that "if it's still in the black then it's staying for a reason".

I'd also like to see a top notch "West Side Story,Chess, Sweeny Todd" and a personal favorite of mine "A Secret Garden". Call me old fashioned, but I think it's time to throw in a classic G rated musical that has potential for some great casting and "Secret Garden" would fit the bill, in my eyes.

Sadly, I don't think Camille Claudel would make a very big impression on Bd'w, as much as I'd like to see Frank Wildhorn score. I wish he had worked harder on Havana. Just a few personal thoughts.

Don't get my wrong, I really like Rent and Aida (I see them both everytime I go to the city) but I think it's time for them to go. I think that it would please me greatly if they put those on DVD and then put other stuff in the theaters. That way the Rentheads and fans could still see the show without taking up the space in the theaters. I'm sure those shows will never be released to DVD, but it's nice to dream.
I know it closed not long ago at all, but to be given the opportunity to see Zanna, Don't! again would make me giddy. I really enjoyed that show and would love for more people to get to see it. Another unrealistic idea, but it's still nice to dream.
